I hope you don't mind me popping in. If you're looking at getting Sky have a look to see if they still have any recommend a friend deals going on. I recently phoned to ask about deals for my mum and she decided to go ahead with what they offered. They said that because I was already a Sky subscriber both her and myself would get a £50 pre-pay credit card. And we both did. Then I had a look on their site a bit later and they still had the recommend a friend deal but it had went up to £100 each!

Not sure if it's still on BUT if you know of someone already with Sky and you can get a good deal, ask if they'll recommend you. It would be in their interests too. :)

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Glad you're getting sorted with the TV. If it wasn't for Mr SA and DD I'd just have free view and broadband.

That's a lovely story about you getting off the streets, so encouraging to hear about someone who has turned their life around. You definitely should write a book.

Mr SA finally got round to making his first batch of home brew - should be ready in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Have a lovely weekend :)

    Afternoon folks :D

Thanks for popping in Sun Addict glad to hear Mr SA has got his brew on the go. Which brew is it, if you don't mind my asking?
I have sampled the Festival Ale "Father Hooks' Best Bitter" that I brewed recently and has just completed 4 weeks bottle conditioning... 'tis a lovely 4.5% ale and I will definitely be brewing it again.

I'm not long home from taking my wee mam and two of my aunts to the big shopping centre to do their Christmas shopping...
I swear... it would be easier taking Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Magrat Garlick shopping than those three...
As we say in Glasgow "Ma heids nippin..." and I don't want to ever have to go M&S with them ever again, ever...
On the up side, one of my aunts insisted on us going to wetherspoons for our lunch (and bless her, she got me a decent pint too :D )
Surprisingly they didn't get everything they were after today but said they'll just get the rest as they go along now as they've broke the back of it.
Have agreed to take my mam back there on her own next weekend so that she can get what she has seen for her sisters presents...
I am shattered now and think it will be an early night for me tonight.

Hope you good folks have had a good day today

  • Just catching up. I love your stories about your wee Mammy and her sisters. I can so relate to them.
I used to work in a post office in Glasgow near to the Salvation Army homeless unit. The stories of how these people came to be in the situation they were in was heartbreaking. I can never pass a Salvation Army officer without donating. They are marvelous people who have literally saved lives. Words cannot express my admiration. And Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without the Salvation Army band playing Christmas carols.
I am also full of admiration for how you have turned your life around. I hope you have a lovely Christmas with your friend and his good lady.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

It is just not Christmas without hearing a Salvation Army Band playing Christmas Carols
...and as my best mate says (almost daily just now) it's NOT bloody Christmas until Noddy Holder says so :D

  • That is also true. And until they show It's a Wonderful Life on TV on Christmas Eve. Until all the houses in Glasgow are lit up with Christmas decorations and the little girl next door comes in to show me her angel costume for the school play. I hate the commercialism but I love Christmas.
