Me too, don't always vote as I think they're all much of a muchness, but this time it just feels different. Even Mr SA went to vote after much cajoling. My dear old mum used to vote for whoever she thought might lose their deposit which meant her vote often went to a very obscure party. Bless her :)

    Glad all is good xx

    Happy New Year folks...

Have survived the holiday season. There was much eating and Quaffing and so forth and suchlike.

Now back to reality and work etc.

I'm not one for New Year resolutions and suchlike. I do set goals and make plans etc but not as resolutions...
    For example;
This year I would like to get oot n aboot more than last year and I am hoping to meet up with a few more folks in RL that I have become friends with online.
I would like to replace a few worn out bits n pieces of furniture n electronics in my home.
Going to keep building up my savings / EF and hopefully increase the amount I am putting in.
Continuing to be frugal and thrifty by growing my own veggies, baking and homebrewing etc

Hope everyone had a good one over the season :A

Last night I heard the news that Neil Peart had lost his battle with cancer and had passed away...

For those of you who don't know, Neil was the drummer and lyricist for the Canadian band RUSH, along with Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson.

RUSH and their music were / are a big part of my life...

    Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters have summed up in words what I couldn't with their comments;

Today the world lost a giant in the history of rock and roll. An inspiration to millions with an unmistakeable sound who spawned generations of musicians (like myself) to pick up two sticks and chase a dream. A kind, thoughtful, brilliant man who ruled our radios and turntables not only with his drumming, but also his beautiful words.
I still vividly remember my first listen of "2112" when I was young. It was the first time I really listened to a drummer. And since that day, music has never been the same. His power, precision, and composition was incomparable. He was called "The Professor" for a reason, we all learned from him.
Thank you, Neil for making our lives a better place with your music. You will be forever remembered and sorely missed by all of us. And my heartfelt condolences to the Rush family.
    God bless Neil Peart.
    Dave Grohl

Neil Peart had the hands of God.
    End of story.
    Taylor Hawkins

I'll be listening to my RUSH collection and remembering him this weekend.
RIP Neil and thanks for being a beat in the soundtrack of my life

Hi uncanny Scott . I have missed so much of your diary , and intend to catch-up soon .

Yeah , I'm gutted about Neil Peart and Rush .
I was lucky to see them a few times , the last being on the clockwork angels tour at London o2 .
He is/ was best drummer , percussionist and all round huge talent in rock.
I notice that Martin griffin of Hawkwind passed away a few days ago also . That's 3 drummers in a short time if you include ginger baker .

I think we all knew there would be no more rush , once they finished the R40 tour .
    Best drummer ever .

Sorry for your loss sun addict . :( There's never any right way to say something in these situations , but hope you get stronger in time .

Sorry for my protracted silence on here. Had a couple of RL things to deal with recently
    Firstly, I'm single again...
She received an offer of a 3 year contract with her company... in CANADA... it's a massive boost to her career and of course I told her that she should go for it. Would never hold anyone back from anything like this.
We decided that it would be best for both of us to split as there is no way either of us could travel regularly to see each other and we agreed that it's not fair on either of us to put things "on hold" until her contract finishes.
We'll keep in contact via e-mail and such like and hopefully remain good friends.
So, I've been a bit down, however, good mates and their partners have been keeping a careful eye on me for which I am very grateful. Been keeping myself busy at work and with my various hobbies etc.
Secondly, the wee mam has not been well. Thankfully, she's back to her usual wee self now but she had a right bad cold / flu bug. Even though she got her flu jab as usual this one hit her quite hard so I was her PA whilst she recovered.
I'm just plodding on and trying to keep things positive.
MY EF is building up. I'm putting some extra savings by when I can.
    Hoping everyone is doing well.
Be back on regularly again soon, promise

Good to hear from you. Sorry to hear about splitting from your GF but what a fantastic opportunity for her and at least you’re keeping in touch. You’ve got some good mates there.  Glad your mum recovered.

Take care and keep us posted xx
