Sorry to read your latest news, it's not the best time to be job-hunting but as you say once things start getting back to normal it'll be all hands on deck getting the country up and running again. This virus has certainly thrown a massive spanner in everyone's works.
Take care and stay strong xx

Thanks folks
I've put in quite a few applications now and have put word out through numerous contacts (networking etc) that I'm in the market again.
I've heard also of a few friends and old colleagues in similar circumstances, thankfully it is just a few at the moment.
Staying positive and keeping on.
The wee furry yin is giving me the waggy tail and imploring look of "ah need oot fir the toilet again Dad, take me oot please!" so I gotta go for now.

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Afro folks...
It's now confirmed that I will be redundant as of end of this month...
Package is standard;
Months worked Salary payment
One months payment-in lieu / Lie Time
Statutory Redundancy Payment
Accrued Holiday Pay
Have asked over on the Bankruptcy board as to what of this I would be left with by Trustee. As it is a standard package with no enhancements / bonuses and IF I have read the guidance info correctly then I think it is considered basic income and not vested by the Trustee? Just trying to get some info / background BEFORE I contact Trustee.

Sorry to hear this, not what you want right now. Is this redundancy as a result of the virus situation or was it on the cards anyway? I thought you were doing really well in this job it’s such a shame, seems really unfair ☹️I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Evening folks
Thanks for responses and messages.
Long story short... the corporation over-stretched themselves, they tried to expand quicker than their revenue could support believing that they could recoup the expenditure on their acquisitions... this virus hit, our industrial sector was heavily impacted and they suffered a HUGE loss. The reaction of those at the top, cut staff to save money... of course, not us, no, not those who actually effed everything up, oh no no no, just those poor b's who actually do the actual work in manufacturing / producing what we try and sell.
To say I'm a bit angry is of course an understatement. A lot of good friends and colleagues around the world have also lost their jobs due to this.
This is what happens when there is a relatively young and inexperienced senior management team who don't really understand what risk and opportunity evaluation actually means, or what it means to take responsibility for their actions / decisions...
I'm venting / ranting, I know...
I'll try and contact CAB tomorrow and see what advice they can give me.
I know that I am not the only one facing an uncertain future just now but I cannot and I will not give up or give in.

Only I will remain."BUGGRITMILLENIUMHANDANDSHRIMP I TOLD EM! - Foul Ole Ron

Afro folks...
Sorry for the protracted absence.
Hope you're all sitting comfortably, this may be a long one. Much has happened since I were last here...
Redundancy was as OK as could be in the circumstances. Trustee was great as usual and I was able to keep most of my redundancy payment. I had to make 3 months worth of payments to trustee and things are basically on hold until I am back in employment again.
I am, of course, applying for absolutely everything that my skill-set and experience fits. So far, I've had very little response.
Have heard from some folks that whilst vacancies are being listed and advertised no one is currently interviewing... now that we are heading out of lockdown that should hopefully change. I am waiting to hear back from quite a few applications due to this backlog situation.
So, for now, I am on benefits (UC) and just managing to scrape by.
Have been keeping myself as active as I can... 10 and 15 mile hikes counted as exercise / walking the dog didn't they? Now thankfully the travel restrictions are lifted and the wee furry one and I are regularly meeting up with our hiking buddies and going for a wee stoat aboot. Planning on taking our first camping trip since lockdown during the coming week, not decided where yet tho.
So, the Pros are:
that I am OK
I am managing to get by each month (just...)
The Cons:
I am missing the routine of working
So, the Pros outweigh the Cons.
Hopefully I'll get back to being a regular on here again now.
Hoping all you folks are doing ok during this lockdown situation and looking forward to catching up with you all.
Peace out!BUGGRITMILLENIUMHANDANDSHRIMP I TOLD EM! - Foul Ole Ron
