Started the process to switch today from powershop. Been with them for two years, but cheaper elsewhere now even if you take into account purchasing all the powerpacks. Used to be a 'cheap' electricity provider but not any more for me.0

I'm also leaving as discounts offered have halved compared to last year since my 2nd year started in October. I'm moving to People's Energys 2months upfront fixed tariff which for me is 29% below my Baseline Tariff. In future would struggle to get 21% with Powershop on current discounts. As others have said I would return if discounts improve.0

I wasn't aware of it but it seems that powerpacks that are available for the month (eg this month's Winter saver) can change in value during the month.

In my case I had a Winter saver pack offering £15.85's worth for £9.83 on 1st Dec. Today, the discount is the same (38%) but is now only offering £12.74 for £7.90.0 -

Looks like I'm going too. Had an excellent first year at approx. 16% below Top Shopper (which itself was the joint lowest price on the market at the time). Now my baseline is up around 10% on last year with nothing like the discounts offered.
For example, last Dec I had by this date (and in addition to the normal month-long packs) approximately £43 worth of special packs at around 50% discount. Nothing at all like that this year.
In addition there are the much lower discounts that even new members seemed to be getting as well eg Feb advance pack discounts slashed from 40 odd % to 20 odd %0 -
Are Npowers troubles affecting Powershop?0

I wondered this. Powershop were a stand alone company using Npower's licence at the start. I don't know if they are now or if Powershop is now merely a brand of Npower.
As a current customer why not ask them if they are independant or now part of Npower?0 -
When I was a customer of powershops I engaged in conversation with several high ranking managers.
On one occasion (when baseline was introduced) it was kind of explained to me how the billing worked
I was told powershop has all these sophisticated apps for customers to use
But in order to process our bills the data had to be input into npowers very lo tech antiquated billing system
Make of that what you will0 -
I may have left Powershop (the leaving date seems to alter daily). However I still have access to the shop and indeed have bought the winter Shakers. Here are the latest available packs offered to me.
Winter Shaker Cost £9.72 Worth £15.67 discount 38%
Winter Shaker Cost £16.97 Worth £26.10 discount 35%
New year special pack Cost £8.36 Worth £10.45 discount 20%
Simple Saver Cost £6.32 Worth £7.84 discount 19.4%
Major Saver Cost £14.13 Worth £17.40 discount 18.8%
Little Extra Cost £5.68 Worth £6.71 discount 15.4%
Smarty Pants Cost £6.90 Worth £8.12 discount 15.0%
I have around £450 of unused power packs.
How good are Powershop at paying refunds?
For information my new supplier is People's energy 2months upfront tariff as follows:
Electricity 15.6p Day 7.64p Night Gas 2.15p both with standing charge 22.26p0 -

When I left with a decent amount of credit they refunded me in about two weeks.
Whilst I was waiting for the switch away to my new supplier (Yorkshire Energy) I also bought new Powerpacks when on offer if they displaced lower discount packs I still had that were scheduled to be set against my final bill. The new better discounted packs then displaced the lesser discounted packs into the refund pile.
You will eventually loose access to the shop so don't hang around if particular packs on offer are an attractive discount.0 -
Many Thanks that's good to know0
