Game On Special Pack today 4days power cost £6.72 worth £9.74 31% discount.
I've now beaten my Top Shopper rate by over £80 with 3 weeks to go in my 1st year. My second year offer is called Baseline Version 3 and starts on October 3rd. The discount required to achieve Top Shopper rates is 21% or 25% to beat the cheapest currently available tariff elsewhere. The future packs I've already bought for next year represent 25% of my annual usage and were obtained at an average of 25% discount.0 -

Interesting comment this. Is this your opinion, something you've calculated or something PS has told you?0 -
I'd thought future packs discounts were extra for a while so I checked. On the ap under "powerpacks purchased" you can see each month the value of special packs purchased each month ( I generally buy all powerpacks) and also the value of future packs. I then checked my usage for each month and found PS always offered me sufficient special packs to cover my usage every month.
Also in the Shop the description on all future powerpacks says they are"a little extra saving from thinking ahead".
Finally last years winter future packs saved me nearly £100 over Baseline and were used instead of Jumbo and Heave Ho packs at a much lower discount giving me a net annual saving over Top Shopper of over £70.0 -
Really interesting seeing how everyone is getting differing discounts for the same Special Pack.
In my case got offered the equivalent of 6 days worth of power at a discount of 16% for the "Game On Special Pack".0 -
Latest special pack up (Scrum Down Special Pack).
In my case 20% discount for the equivalent of 4 days of power.0 -
For me the Scrum Down Special pack is 35.8% discount for 5 days of power.0

I also got one at 35.8% cost £4.78 worth £7.44 and another at 14.0% cost £10.68 worth £12.42.0

1. Powershop keep their Top Shopper promise. PS promised me an annual price of £903 at 26% discount but only charged £810 at 34% discount.
2. Their billing, ap and on line account information are excellent.
3. Customer service is prompt, courteous and efficient.
4. Their varying discounts can be disconcerting being higher in winter and for gas users and conversely lower in summer and for electricity users. However being a high winter dual fuel user this definitely benefitted me.
Overall I'm Impressed and very satisfied with PS0 -

I quite agree with everything you say and I was so impressed with my first year with Powershop. It was quite a learning curve being able to optimise my Powerpack buying strategy and so, when the second year came, I was looking forward to being a super efficient buyer/customer.
However, I increasingly saw a reduction in the discounts offered and the amount of discounted credit that could be bought.
Subsequently it became incredibly difficult on a month by month basis to achieve the Top Shopper rate, and I realised that the annual achieved discount might still be achieved by stockpiling discounted credit from the winter months. That meant relying on good discounts earned over two or three winter months to balance out/compensate for less than Top Shopper rates achieved throughout the rest of the year.
I didn't want to wait a year to find out if I was still getting a good deal so I moved to a supplier that gave me the equivalent of about a 21% discount off what my Baseline Tariff was at the time month after month with no 'Power Pack anxiety'.
Having read how poor the discounts have been for second year and beyond customers over the last six months, I'm sure I made the correct decision to move.
I would keep a close eye on the discounts and amount of discounted credit you are offered as you move into your second year with PS.
PS customer service is excellent and I would happily return if their prices become competitive again.0 -
Thanks for the tip I will. My new Baseline Tariff is similar to my old one. However the discount promised is 21% to achieve Top Shopper rates so in effect increasing my price by about 5%. My target is 25% discount over the year in order to beat the cheapest current offer from another supplier. I've bought £320 worth of power for £240 @ 25%discount in future packs along with unused packs worth £297 bought for £242 @ 18.5% average discount. In total 50% of next years power at 22% discount leaving me in a strong position to choose only bigger discounted packs.
Sorry you don't feel PS is competitive for you but as you can see it certainly is for me.0
