Everyone wants my dog but I will soon be losing her and I'm dreading it. When dd heads off on a 5 week course mid July, she will go stay with a friend who has time during the day to make sure she is not cooped up indoors in heat. Then when dd relocates to England in sept, she plans to also relocate the dog. I'm so upset as I don't think it'll suit the dog but I'm being dismissed. So, soon we will be empty nesters with just the 2 of us here. I also think she is too old to deal well with the disruption but that might be me.

So, yesterday, all h3ll broke loose in the client where I'm working for 2 weeks. Matters will hit the press today so I was there until half nine making sure all board members and staff were informed in advance. I have discovered though that a mega stressful day followed by needing to get work cleared for other clients is a sure fire way to an undisturbed night's sleep. I'm still shattered but there's stuff to be done so need to get a wiggle on.

    Today I am grateful for
Staff voicing appreciation. I wasn't sure the best thing to do but made a decision and staff dealing with difficulties still said thank you.

  • Yesterday was pretty much as expected and I got off site around 11 last night. Staff have been great though one of the service users told me that he wouldn't want me as his secretary! I'm just building up to going back in. Last thing I did yesterday was to tidy my desk for 2 reasons. I couldn't find the key needed to lock up the office and I can't face starting my day with chaos. Spends have been fairly light this week as this client is where I can purchase lunch for £1. I did however nip out yesterday to do my £25 shop as it was the last day of my £5 off voucher. A new voucher has been secured to be used by 01 July.

On other ms news. It would appear that we have had a break through with dh. He announced earlier this week that he will start to put aside £5 every day where he brings lunch to work. He's been taking lunch for probably the last 4 years. However, if he starts now, we should get the emergency fund underway with £500 from this by year end. He doesn't respond well to nagging but if he comes to a conclusion himself, he sticks with it.

    Today I am grateful for
So much support and positive feedback

What a stressful few days! Good that the people are nice though, that makes such a difference. I hope you have a restful weekend.

£5 a day is impressive - it will build up in no time. Good for him. :)

  • Yesterday the job I'm on was short staffed. I got away at quarter past four as I needed to get a prescription picked up pre weekend but had to go in and provide cover from 7.30 to 10.30 last night. Still, I was able to use the time to get 2 things written up which was good. There is a small event on tomorrow so I will be back in at seven tomorrow evening. This place operates with one full time admin person and one part time. The manager who is on leave and for whom I'm covering, approved next week off for the full time admin person and failed to mention it to me at hand over.

Today I will be taking dd to the airport and then giving my home a little tlc. It is sorely neglected. I will also be trying to put some kind of menu plan in place as my eating habits are deplorable. I'm not convinced that a dinner of a large bag of maltesers followed by a twix are a good idea.

I will also go to the charity shop and to the dump. There's not much to drop off but it'll be fewer things staying here. On other news, dh sold the concert tickets. We are ten euros plus service charge down but have agreed that £100 of payment is going to the emergency fund.

Sorry to hear that the dog is to be relocated. :(. You will miss her I know but perhaps DD will have a change of heart.

    V. Good news though on OH's savings commitment. Sounds like he's beginning to see the light.

Re the chocolate meals - I'm like that too - I've decided to go sugar free apart from naturals like fruit - also very dark chocolate as I won't eat anything like as much of this as the usual kind! Saw a nice recipe on the "Get a Beach Body in 4 Weeks" programme. The girl celeb had huge chock cravings so they gave her a drink of Green & Blacks cocoa powder, milk and banana all blended up. Looked delish! I'm going to give it a try - recipe is on the Channel 5 website. :)

    RETIRED: MAY 2021!!!!😀🎆
My diary: “Seasidegal's Scrimpy Retirement Diary!”
  • I'm not a fan of dark chocolate apart from things like after eights. I've decided I just need to take advice given previously to me and crowd bad things out of my diet. Last night we were contemplating dinner with half takeaway half from fridge being considered. Instead a rummage in the cupboard produced noodles to which we added onions and carrots that would not have featured in t he takeaway side, some chicken and satay sauce and it was a nice dinner. I'm not the greatest cook but concluded that my very occasionally home made satay is nicer than the sachet we opened. I also think that it pretty much uses storecupboard ingredients. I also think that dinner could have accommodated increased amounts of veg and additional ones too, maybe mushrooms.

I did however eat most of a bar of choc over the course of a stressful morning. Why does dd leave things to the last minute before travelling? Anyhow, that's her away for just over 2 weeks. This morning when our four legged alarm clock kicked off, I got up and was able to give the kitchen a good tidy and a good clean. This is due to the nearly absence of her stuff. There are a few items of clothing, two pairs of shoes and a few other bits and pieces, just in the one room. However, I have an old large basket and the plan is to work my way round the rooms, adding any of her belongings and then leave the basket in the bedroom of doom.

Today I have to go into the low paying client from about six to probably about nine. I also have a suite of documents to produce for another client. I have one and a half done with four and a half to go and I obviously started with the easy ones. I need to get a plant potted up, incentivise DH to cut the grass out the front and to get paths, etc cleaned. My thoughts are that if the house looks good as I approach it, I will be more inclined to tackle the inside. We desperately need our window sills painted. That however can wait as there are so many more accessible jobs to be done.

    Today I am grateful for
    Dd's safe travel
