it is and it's also a relief. seemed to have spent the day running about and getting nothing done. went to m&s and got a lot of whoopsied items spent for, in the main, by sb vouchers. for my first time ever, i got 50sb from a search. i'm now 1 sb from another m&s voucher. visited my mother to drop in supplies. she's not in good form but i'm not sure what anyone can do about that.

So, did a practice run with a 14 in cake. Worked pretty well apart from slicing through it. Need to come up with a better way to cut through it. I have had a problem with back pain intermittently. It has flared up big time and I need to drive to dublin and back today. I researched public transport but it would have meant leaving home more than an hour earlier and probably getting home an hour and a half later plus managing various connections. OH has kindly made lunch and packed me a tuck bag so I only need to exit car to one place.
Today I am grateful for

Yesterday was mainly spent sitting down which appeared to help thanks. I'm still not fully functioning but am hopefully getting better. A mystery £132 has appeared in my personal bank account. I've no idea from where. This bothers me. I won't have time to call bank today as I've work today followed by a training session this evening and I had tickets to a comedy gig that I now won't be able to attend. It's my own fault as I got dates wrong. Tomorrow I am doing a breakfast briefing so will hopefully squeeze in a nap during the day as I'm already shattered.
Yesterday marked a year since I was no longer in employment. It was also the day when I secured my first 3 year contract. It's only a day a month but covers my insurance, professional subs, etc and really takes the pressure off.
Gotta run, am so tired and have a heavy day.
Today I am grateful for
A contract!

You have survived a year out on your own and there have been ups and downs but you are still here securing contracts and pushing forward. Well done :TIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Happy Anniversary! Glad your back is improving a bit, shame about missing the gig. As to the mystery money...? Let's hope it's yours to do as you wish!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

So I contacted the bank and found out from where the money originated. I contacted the company who were of limited use but say that it's mine as a refund. I'm not convinced but have tried. While speaking to the bank I also queried why my cheque withdrawn from the building society hadn't cleared. Apparently this was delayed due to adverse weather conditions. Really? When it was paid into one of their branches. Also, had to deal with an incredibly patronising staff member who basically suggested that I couldn't count the number of days to clear a cheque and that there was no delay. The real reason only emerged after I spoke to her supervisor. Their complaints team were supposed to call me yesterday and still I wait.
On tues evening, my client rescheduled and took my presentation first so I got to see most of the wonderful Mark Thomas show. Wednesday morning's gig got underway well with a very kind stranger donating a pound to me when I needed to feed a parking meter. I had asked for change of a fiver but he insisted that I take a pound. How lovely was that?
I then managed to dislodge a large filling in my one from front tooth which sent me into a tailspin. I was however lucky enough to get an emergency appointment and a repair and it only cost £18 which was also a relief.
I called in with mother yesterday, spent an hour and escaped relatively unscathed. However, meeting with the venue people who have previously let me down was postponed to today with little notice. Not good. I'm concerned that if they are this unreliable, can we actually trust them to deliver on the day.
Today I am both playing paperwork catch up then heading to a client. I also need to revisit a post office as apparently their system that processes lodgements to business accounts wasn't working yesterday. I instead bought a scratch card while there and won £20. This will reimburse me the initial £3 outlay, give dd and me £5 each and create a scratch card pot as we do like to share a scratch card once a fortnight or so.
On money news, I need to update my sig to reflect a mortgage payment and a depletion of the emergency fund. The mortgage is close to breaking another thousand and I'm so tempted to make an op but this is the month when interest gets added which would bring it over the thousand mark. To transfer that amount may put pressure on what will be an incredibly costly 2 months.
Today I am grateful for
The kindness of strangers
A win
