Great news about the shower."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

Glad the relative is in good spirits and treatment is available.
The house sounds as if it is coming along in leaps and bounds. Well done 👏👏

Well, I’ve tried positivity and optimism but I’m not sure either works for me. More work was needed on the shower, piddling little things all mounted up and I just wanted to hide away somewhere warm. On Tuesday, the airline emailed to say that they’ve cancelled the flight needed to connect for our holiday and rescheduled for 8 hours later which didn’t work for us. Accepting that we needed to go over the night before and pay for a hotel, we tried changing flights and were threatened with a £35 fee. Thankfully a call addressed that but we have both lost work time and the price of a hotel room.DH had his procedure on Thursday. He had to be at hospital for 10.30 but was left until after four. I’d had to return home as I had a teams meeting scheduled for 3 but he’s through it so all’s good. My work smart phone has stopped recognising my sim, it works elsewhere and I despair of ever having to deal with argoose ever again. I contacted the relevant helpline for the product, it was the wrong number. I contacted the helpline for the store and was given inaccurate information resulting in a wasted 12 mile round trip and still no phone. My sim is now in an old, held together with gorilla tape, phone that I can’t get to pick up my emails and calendar.I have had to deal with the accountancy firm I sacked and the travelling 2 pounds have travelled back to me so I’m into the next stone.
i had thought of a challenge to recover the cost of the car repairs before heading off on holiday but enthusiasm has departed. However, in an attempt to be positive, today I am grateful for
being able to have time and funds to provide young relative with an experience they will be unable to have post surgery

I think most people would struggle with positivity and optimism after your week!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3

I empathise with your mobile phone issues. When they go wrong life is super stressful...If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

That's a lot to cope with in one week. It's lovely that you've been able to treat your young relative to something, so they can have that to think about later.
I hope your DH is recovering uneventfully. Rubbish about your phone though: can it be replaced under the manufacturer's guarantee?
P.S. The wandering 2 lbs are just trying it on. Tell them firmly they have left home now and can't keep running back to you when they can cope perfectly well, independently of you.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

still battling about the less than a year old phone but i've decided that i can't just sit and wallow. when i thought that covering the car repair costs was doable, i was looking at different ways to achieve this. One was to cash out a £50 M&S voucher from SB. I am sitting on 5803 and need to get to 6500. there's no reason not to try. i also think that will draw a line under me and SB as it's so difficult to earn points compared to how it used to be. I also have 32 bonus points that will be payable pre holiday. only another 665 to go over the next 3 weeks. Hopefully it's doable.Today i am grateful foryesterday being a lazy day albeit some stuff got donea no spend and no drive dayidentifying 5 items to goMortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 11st 12lb determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Well done on getting on and not wallowing. I do think a little wallow is allowed after a week like you’ve just had though. Enjoy your break 👍January spends - £587.585

So sb up to 5848 while bonus at month end climbed to 35. Will be happier when the combined total hits 600. Yesterday I did battle trying to get my phone sorted but no joy. This is so frustrating. Today I have dealt with one work matter and am about to hopefully clear another. Today I am grateful for

Sb up to 5902 plus 38. Another 7 will be added when I log into my laptop. Yesterday we had another exercise in futility trying to get the phone fixed that resulted in payment for parking. Today the game will start again.
yesterday i also had a trip to the supermarket to use a £7 off a £50 spend so Halloween goodies, and essentials such as mouthwash were purchased. A freezer clear out, was done in advance of our brown bin collection. Hopefully a piece of work progressed sufficiently to get it over the line.
today I am grateful for
