So, holiday has been and gone. It went well enough and my repaired tooth remained intact. There were a few niggles but not too many. Having totally cleaned out our points, we decided to put all spends on dh’s Amex account- I have a card. The control freak in me is struggling with the outcome of that decision as he hasn’t yet totted up our spends despite us being home since Wednesday. The good news is that while we were away, Ernie was kind to both of us with his £200 win going into the pot and the total creeping up slightly. My £100 will go in when it pays out. That’ll leave £100 outstanding which will come from changing back our foreign exchange. We will hit seven eighths by year end.
while I was away, my only outstanding invoice paid and I submitted a bid for a piece of work. I was asked on Thursday to bid for another piece from a potentially new client. This was good news. As was the outcome of my encounter with mr wii this morning. No movement at all and I’m quite relieved by that.
today I have achieved nothing bar finishing a holiday read so I need to start a list and working through it.

It's nice to hear the finances are going in the right direction! And that the tooth held up and the holiday was okay. It's always sorting out holiday spending that throws my records out, so I wonder if it should just be a flat-rate spend? £X under 'holiday', and the budget to include everything from food to travel to treats, with the possible exception of gifts bought for others? However, that messes with my feelings about how it affects annualised figures, but who am I kidding? I've never completed a year's records yet! Perhaps if your husband could give you the total and you could park that under a separate heading till he has details?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Well, the list making didn’t materialise but stuff got done. Everything that came back from holidays bar one category has been sorted or placed in bags ready for despatch to others. Sewing was done relating to a large item which is now ready to be rehomed. This will be an 85 mile round trip so it’s being left for a few days.No work progress was made although dh did finish off a presentation for me to deliver this week. I didn’t meet my friend for our Sunday coffee, her gs was involved in a pre Christmas show. That meant I didn’t venture from the house so it was an nsd. Next time I’m out, the car will need fed.
i did sort out and list the Santa gifts for my two and also found a home for some just in case items that have been too long in the present box. Food was eaten from what we had in the house. I had intended to kick off some Christmas food prep by making cheesy roll ups but that will be a job for today while my whoopsied loaf is still useable.
work beckons. I hope everyone has a good day and stays warm

Ooo, is potato bread the same as potato cakes? My gran used to make those, yum. I think from just mashed potatoes, flour and butter, rolled out slightly then baked. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?1

Glad you had a lovely holiday 👍January spends - £587.581

Hi Satchmo, potato bread is left over mashed potatoes combined with soda bread flour and cooked stovetop on a griddle, or in my case, on an electric crepe maker. They are also available in most bakeries and supermarkets over here and feature in the Ulster fry. It’s just scrummy.
so, what’s been happening? Well, I’m still behind with work but have found some new admin support which should help. Plus yesterday I slid down a flight of 4 stairs and moving, sneezing, etc hurts. Tonight I have a short presentation to do at a client and tomorrow I have a 3 hour training session to deliver.I’m tired as last night wasn’t great.
