Please will you come and do my dining room table? The only reason I can get my laptop on it is that the laptop lives there. Far too many projects have taken up home alongside.
I hope you find where the food money is leaking to, and it's not too painful a cutback to make.
ETA: I must have cross-posted with you as I've just read that the food spending wasn't all food. That's reassuring to know.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

👏👏👏👏on recapturing your table space.Glad you’ve acknowledged the food spends weren’t as bad as expected. I started logging my spends at the beginning of November in a bid to discover where my money was going……I lasted a week then everything went to pot…..I’ll reconvene next week as many changes are happening in the Milann household re the way I travel. My car is going to be no more from Friday…..January spends - £587.584

I track my spending using YNAB - I have a few categories to cover supermarket shopping: Groceries; Bulk Buys; Wine and Beer; Paper Goods etc. It really helps keep in the check the amount that gets spent and where by budgeting a certain amount to each category and when it's gone it's gone until next month or need to cut back somewhere else to cover it.3

Congratulations on clearing the table! That must feel great"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

Apart from the odd home bakery purchase, all grocery spends go on my credit card, cleared in full each month. That gives me a certain degree of visibility. So, getting today’s bad news out of the way, mr wii advised that I am up 1 lb so sig has been updated.Yesterday a trip to the recycling centre got rid of enough boxes, paperwork, hard plastics and wood to give us a clear landing - the first in 4 weeks. Today this will be hoovered. We followed this by a trip to mr t where we got £128 of goods for £63 post money off and credit card vouchers. This includes 2 bottles of champagne and 4 wines with some groceries.
this morning breakfast was one of my home made sodas from the freezer topped with previously frozen cheese.
today we will attempt to dismantle an old office chair to transport to recycling- we couldn’t fit it into the car yesterday.
today I am grateful for
the kitchen table remaining clear

Well, half way through the week and the chair still has pride of place in the kitchen. Little else is being done although lots of things have been started just none completed and two are well overdue for work. So, what am I doing now.? I’m still in bed hiding from both the cold and my work. The only plus is that laundry is up to date as I need to maximise benefits from increased heating usage. DH and I work in separate rooms so it’s as cheap to turn off radiators in unused rooms and heat the rest of the house as to heat two rooms and freeze on trips to the bathroom and kitchen.
so far this week, I have had 1 nsd. I filled up with diesel mon and bought a dinner at lunchtime from the social enterprise for whose parent company I had just delivered training.
today I am grateful for
clearing a task from the personal to do list
being able to heat my workspace / home

Keep chipping away at it! Look how far you've come.
Agreed, it's harder when it's cold and there are lots of things requiring application before anything shifts.

Can I please have a round of applause? 1 of my 2 overdue, life draining assignments is out the door whoop! Whoop! The other is going today. I also managed to offload two items yesterday and tonight I have a trip to the theatre to make use of tickets bought as a Christmas present last year. We’ve had a look and have decided to not eat out as we go on holiday next week so will be doing a lot of eating out. Also, there’s a pot of ready made mash in the fridge to be eaten. this was from a co op offer that made use of the loyalty cash that had to be used or lost by year end.I just wish it wasn’t so cold. I don’t like going out at night when it’s frosty. I am officially old.
i need to get going. I am determined to get the other piece out the door.
today I am grateful for
contact, albeit fleeting, from dd. At least there is proof of life
renewed impetus
