The issue now isn’t a lack of staff it’s the attitude that will emerge over the issue that had to be tackled with two staff. Still, yesterday we got payroll sorted for another month. I’d love to move to online banking however we have elderly signatories some of whom don’t have internet / email so while that is something on the to do list, it needs to wait until the whole system is sorted as we were part way through our it project when this hit.
that said, yesterday we made progress with the physical environment. We got more stuff sorted, which was good and the progress made will make for permanent changes. I have also arranged the temporary redeployment of a staff member that could become permanent. It may also save us £900 a month. Efficiencies are emerging which is good.
today I am on chef taxi duty so will be in from 10 to 6. I may be in on Sunday but I can cope with that if it’s just a few hours.

So, the wife of the elderly couple died yesterday. A joint service cannot be accommodated so the poor family will deal with two funerals in a matter of days.At the client, we had one staff member return from sickness absence and contact from another who is returning on Monday. Another two are due back next Saturday. The irony is that given how few service users we currently have, we will be over staffed. Still, it should make introducing changes easier.Yesterday I ventured out from the client to do banking, post office, delivery off under returns, etc. One bank closed ahead of its official time, I had called ahead. One post office directed me to another that turned out to be closed. It’s so frustrating as I found it quite scary to be venturing out at all and yet return trips will be needed on Monday. There has been a lack of engagement from the third party who is facilitating harassment of staff. On Monday, this is going to the regulators. I tried to give them the opportunity to address this and they have ignored this while publicly declaring their support for front line staff. Can you tell that I don’t cope well with hypocrisy?
today my sorely neglected house is getting some attention. It is grubby. I also need to do business bank stuff.

Sorry to hear about the couple, such a shame they can't have a joint funeral.
Hope the staff returning helps make stuff a bit easier.

Twice yesterday I thought I had posted but clearly not. Most important update is that although there was insufficient time for the wife’s funeral to be held, the husband’s funeral was deferred so both will be buried together and at the same time. Once again evidence of people doing what they can to minimise the adverse impacts.
i have just commented to dh that for the first in a long long time, my laptop was not looked at since I left work on Friday. There were a few phone calls and emails but I can cope with these.Yesterday I spoke to 2 of my sisters and dd FaceTimed her favourite resident of this house. The furry one was unimpressed and went to sleep but at least dd got some assurance as to how the dog is. Her mobility is declining despite the increased meds. There’s also the occasional wince but generally she’s a happy dog. 🐕
we did a bit of number crunching yesterday and, if inclined towards risk taking, could probably clear the mortgage this year but that would leave is scrambling around to pay things like my tax bill which would be far from ideal. It would also leave no money at all in the business. However, knowing that this could be done if I had to cease trading is a comfort.
i really need to get figures updated for my sig. the one semi positive is that I had my weekly discussion with mr wii and there’s a slight downward movement that keeps me at 13 st 6lbs. Given my lack of exercise and non existent will power combined with access to chocolate, this is a positive.Yesterday we sorted out bedding and have four items to go. These will wait in the garage until the recycling centre reopens along with our stockpiled plastics and cardboard. We are in one of 5000 houses that are trialling a new recycling collection system and are therefore not having any recycling collected. Our council’s advice was to make use of the general waste collection. I hope that they factor these difficulties into the evaluation of the trial as we have no guarantee that current circs will be a one off.
im on chef taxi duty and need to sort out my car insurance ahead of that.
