Agree with beanie on the nightmare client. You're not his crutch.
Bah on the cost of the new fridge. It is a necessity unfortunately.
Sorry about your mum as well. Not a lot you or the family can do if she's being stubborn.

It must be hard to deal with your Mum, especially if she isn't really wanting to help herself.
Not good on the fridge! So annoying that it would cost you a minimum of £80 for someone to just come and look at it.

I’m spitting feathers. Dr visited my mum yesterday, told her that her family were trying to get her into a home and left saying she was of sound mind and if that’s how she chooses to live, it’s up to her. So, we are no further forward and she’s huffing with all of us.
Must confess, I didn’t start c25k yesterday. It was cold, wet and I had a work meeting scheduled for after it. Dinner was a tin of chicken soup and toast. Talk about a pity party!
Today I was due at a breakfast briefing and didn’t go. I have bowel spasm again which meant a bad night and an urge not to venture far from home. Fridge has been ordered and is due for delivery. We managed to resist paying an extra £15 for installation- it’s free standing. We could have gotten it for approximately £10 less but due to us being in NI, this company couldn’t give a delivery date but would advise within 48 hours with a view to delivery within a subsequent week. I know there’s a stretch of water but it shouldn’t provide that big an issue. We benefited from a £1.50 bonus plus cash back from £co.
Got an email from a satisfied client who is looking to book a further 3 days later this year. I have arranged for my accountant to call this evening at 8.30. She will give me my roadmap and a deadline for her review. She’s a friend who gets paid in the bottles of wine that I don’t drink.
On other news, the nightmare is pushing me to the end of my tether. This may be what’s needed.

You really needed that duvet day! You're right not to feel bad about it, it's just your body scheduling in recovery time without consulting your brain, but sometimes your body knows best.
Re: your Mum, I'm sorry things have reached this stage. I went through very similar with my Mum some years ago and it was very stressful. In Mum's case after struggling through for years with increasing physical disability she developed dementia and was eventually sectioned and admitted to a nursing home - where she proceeded to keep the staff on their toes for another five years. What your Mum's doctor said was not at all helpful from your point of view, but perhaps if you and your siblings aren't already doing so, you could keep a log of concerns and make a point of informing the GP where it's applicable. It sounds as though he or she is seeing things from your Mum's point of view and may need additional information. That said, they are correct under the Mental Capacity Act (I suspect you know about this through your work but basically she has the right to make an unwise choice). I wonder if your mum has friends or neighbours who might influence her? But I think you will already have gone down this route. It's impossibly hard to watch someone deteriorating like this but there are a couple of things that may be worth remembering: self neglect is (technically) a form of abuse and, coupled with her possible inability to see her situation for what it is, may be a sign that her perceptions are affected, which in turn could be due to some mental abilities breaking down despite her being sharp in other areas. Horrible though it is, that's actually a potential way through this situation in the longer term because as her physical environment and self care deteriorate (and each of these will speed the other up), there will be more of a case for intervention.
Meanwhile, as you all seem to be beating against a brick wall, is there a case for just making the visits and not pushing the self-care, as she will have her defences up? It would be less stressful for you and you have so much to cope with.
Please feel free to disregard the above if I'm on the wrong track. I know I may be wide of the mark and projecting my own experience onto you.
And on a completely different note, I was advised with C25K (which I've done and loved), that the warm-ups and cool-downs are really important. Walking to begin with is part of the program and helps to get synovial fluid into your knees which helps protect them from damage. It also gets your heart and lungs into gear so that after a while a brisk walk cues your body to begin to run. Aching limbs do the same: after a few runs those aches will come a little later in the run as your body has learned from them to channel resources to those muscles at that point. The aches are in effect the body's note to itself to make it more efficient. And get hold of some good runners' stretches to practice as they will help a lot. (My little disclaimer - I'm not medically qualified so these are my take on advice I was given). There is a C25K thread somewhere on these boards with people who know more than I do!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Cherry, you are completely on the money with your assessment. One issue is that my mum’s own brand of self neglect makes it so difficult to be in her home. However, my elder brother is an absolute saint who checks her needs by phone every day and delivers whatever she needs. Like others say, it is what it is.
The c25k that I may do this evening, if snow and ice hasn’t caused cancellations, is a supervised one with qualified trainers who have the stretching built into the sessions. It does make a major difference. This is a public health initiative and is incredibly well structured.
Snow descended on us yesterday and seemed to enhance driver stupidity. I had to go to that client yesterday and spent more than 50 mins on a journey that’s normally less than 15. I hate when you leave a safe space between you and the car in front and muppets squeeze in to get a car length ahead. Clearly that’s what matters to them in slippery conditions.
Today I need to get motoring as I have lots to do. Unfortunately the bowel spasm hasn’t responded to medication which is not good. The pain has however eased a bit and a better night’s sleep was had.
On money news, the lack of properly working fridge has cut down on shopping and assisted a bit with clearing the freezer. Last night’s dinner came from there and dh is taking left overs in for lunch. My lunch yesterday was porridge. We do need to purchase milk today as no one wants to see a tea deprived me.
Oh, due to weather, my accountant cancelled last night but will be coming on Thursday evening. She’s also free at the weekend.
Right, I really need to get underway.
Today I am grateful for
The finances to heat the house in bad weather. This would have been a concern this time last year.

Good luck with the c25k. I think that's truly impressive if the weather there is anything like the weather here!
Another vote for kicking the nightmare into dreamland. When you took it on I think you said it was poorly paying but regular. Perhaps it's preventing you getting better paid work as it's taking up so much of your time and work energy.
I'm sure you'll do whatever is best.
