I can't begin to imagine how you are feeling. It sounds like a total disaster of nightmare proportions, but that you are stuck with it until it's sorted. Sending all the positive thoughts possible that things take a turn for the better. ((hugs))

Sorry to hear about the death of the young man and the man who set himself on fire. Just awful.

Glad the dog is back again :)

  • So the nightmare agreed my hourly rate uplift. It's only an extra £3 per hour but that'll help. Progress is being made.
Yesterday I did a short day as I did not feel great. This evening I will have to go back in and issue pay cheques so I may have another early finish. I will also need to deal with other client stuff and may even issue an invoice or two.
Yesterday I had a phone call with DS, he of the first world problems. He thanked me for clothes I had purchased for him on my holidays. He loves how soft they are but doesn't want to wash them in case the softness goes. Hilarious!
I also discovered yesterday that I had overlooked something. This may be a big mistake. I have asked for a reconsideration so lots of positive vibes are needed.
I have been thinking about the targets in my signature. I'm wondering if I shouldn't align them to the end of my business year ie the tax year as that will be when I find out what profit I have made, over and above my £600 a month that I pay myself. It's also quite close to my birthday so it'd be a nice thing to help me celebrate. Am pondering.

    Today I am grateful for
Confirmation that there is value in my work
    Contact from DS
Making a decision and sticking to it yesterday

Welcome back, sorry to have been gone a while but I'm still playing catch up on diaries... I'm now up to date with yours and glad the wedding went well, the dog is back and you have a pay rise. :) I hope the wedding was also a bit of a holiday for you both and the laptop wasn't out too much.

Financially, it sounds as though things are heading in the right direction. :) Otherwise, such sad news about the deaths. I hope your bid for an employee assistance programme bears fruit... it must be so hard to work alongside such circumstances.

You asked for a bit of feedback on my holiday - ages ago! This is the first time I've been back here but I'm still reliving so much of it although it was several weeks ago. Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong - wow! Not the sort of thing we'll be doing very often but I'd go back like a shot. Might need a huge pay rise to do so, but one can dream. Singapore was magical, I loved the culture as well as the beautiful city. Might draw the line at the rain, though. Australia was wonderful: so friendly and such different places within one huge country. We've decided we need to go and 'do' the east side as we missed that completely. Hong Kong is overwhelming. It was the hottest weather (the outback in Australia was surprisingly 'cool' while we were there) - and Hong Kong heat meant we didn't do as much as we'd have done in a cooler place - but we loved the harbour and the view point.

I will admit I've got the travel bug. :D

I hope whatever it was you overlooked doesn't become an issue... we all make mistakes but at least you spotted so you are forewarned. Positive vibes coming your way!

So glad I've caught up. I'll try to stay that way . :)

    That sounds awful.

Glad that your pay uplift has been agreed!

  • Cherry, lovely to see you. Glad you had a good break. I'm at the opposite end to you and have decided that I want to knock travel on the head for a bit, it's just too stressful for me.
Thanks everyone for the positive vibes, they paid off. I've a deadline extension to Monday and have the things in place that are needed. Also, I heard yesterday, I PASSED MY EXAM!
It's such a relief as I would have lost my guaranteed £500 per month for 3-5 years without it. Happily, they don't provide marks or a grade as I don't think I'd have covered myself in glory. I splurged on nice chocolate for the staff of the nightmare client yesterday and even gave DH some too.
I was at the client until 6 yesterday then back in at 9.15 for 2 hours to finish off payroll. At least staff appreciated this.
Today I am at a government office first thing to collect 10 cases of bottled water that they are donating. I have 2 meetings after that but things are trundling forward which is good.
Oh, it's confession time for me. As of next Mon, I will have a cleaning service coming in once a fortnight. It's someone I've used before who loves the 4 legged fiend so it also takes the pressure off to be home for her on that day. I am upping my monthly payment to myself to do this as the money is in the business account and it is something that I get real benefit from. Now I need to drag my tired body into the working day.

Well done on passing the exam and well done for employing the cleaning company.

Well done! And how wonderful to have the guaranteed £500. :)

The cleaner sounds like a fantastic idea - more time, energy and peace of mind for you (so long as you aren't going to bend over backwards to make it 'clean enough for the cleaner to come' :D ), income for her, and the business is paying.

    Have a good day. :)
