Well, there's only me to buy for, and I have just checked June's spending (five weeks of it), and my total spend on food has been: £100.29. I think that's pretty good! My boyfriend is with me at weekends, and on food for those nights we split the cost between us, so the above figure is purely for me, over five weeks - 35 days!

I'm quite happy with that, about £20 per week. I lived on a lot less when I was at Uni, but now I'm earning, and think I deserve treats, like nectarines!!!! I've always thought of fruit and cereal as quite expensive, and a bit of a luxury, but I now always have fruit in, and a banana every day with my bran flakes.

I'm quite happy with this. It does include wine! (though not much). Of course I have nothing to compare this to, as it's the first month I've taken part. But it was good to keep track, and I will be from now on.

Edit: forgot to say I have a kilo of rice, big bag of wholewheat pasta, one of spaghetti, some frozen HM readymeals, tin of toms and a free jar of something tomatoey from Sacla in the fridge...and bits and pieces in the freezer too...VERY good! And LOADS of banana oat mid-morning muffins in the freezer, and have already got the flour for next month's bread.

Yay I did it! My budget was £60 and I spent £56.42. I was planning to use the 'leftovers' to buy the Be-ro recipe book but I've gone and left my packed lunch at home so I'll have to spend it on lunch instead!

Budget for July will be £55 I think.

    Thank you!

I can't remember whether I put that recipe on the thread or not. It's one I got from a Vegetarian book I have, and it's a really faithful recipe. Suits me for mid-morning snack at work. Not THE most healthy thing in the world, but full of energy and goodness, and filling. If it's not there, give me ten minutes and it will be!

Yes you did, thanks, and they're indexed in the snacks and nibbles section of the Old Style Recipe collection. :)

Said collection can be found either by using the "Collections" sticky at the top of the board, following the clue in my signature, or using the Indexed Collections link in the blue bar at the top of this page (which looks something like this picture)

Well, I've done my last lot of shopping for this month. And my grand totals (drum roll please....) are:

    Food (me & partner, budget £100) ... £248
And the dog has cost me £166

What am I going to do? (weep, weep, sob, sob) Where did all the money go? How can I spend so much in supermarkets? I only had 1 meal out and 1 take out, total £19.10. The other, errr, hundreds (arrggghhh) went on regular supermarket food!! HELP ME!!!!

I set myself a target of £155 for all shop bought outgoings thoughtout the month (including electricity/gas) and my total for the month is .....£151.82 :D £93.97 was spent at Asda and £19.68 was spent at my local Co-op  but that does include some electricity purchases so it's not too bad.

I'm setting myself a target of £160 for July for all shop bought spends as I am starting off with fairly empty cupboards and freezer.

Find Aldi & Lidl a bit too basic for my full shop, but Netto is great if u have one in your area. The only thing I would say is watch yourself for getting temoted by the household and electrical bargains. I can do my weeks shopping for 2 adults and 2 kids for less than £40, but if I take my partner he gets all excited by the mp3 players and speakers ets and I once managed to spend £120 in there!

I take my hat off to you guys. I won't tell you how much I spend but I only shop at Tesco (no other shop around) and my local butchers. I only buy organic (where possible) or failing that, free range. My food bill for 2 adults and 1 child (6yr old) is enormous. Why is organic so expensive? And no, we are not eating steak every night, but £8 for a small organic chicken for Sunday lunch, is a bit more than the BOGOFs that I see.
