I'm going to do the grocery challenge this month. Starting today, I'm setting a budget of £120. That's to cover food and household stuff and delivery charges/bus fares for two of us. Usually, I spend around £160-£180, but I'm quite optimistic (or should that be hopeful!) that I'll be able to keep in budget. :)

Thats what we done at the weekend when we went camping, couldn't find the ice packs for the bacon.

Works a treat, and the kids loved the nice cold juice :D

I know I'm a day late... but I'm going to do the Grocery Challenge this month for the first time. :T

I have absolutely no idea how much money I spend at the moment, so I'm going to aim for £100 for the month, which is for 2 adults, cleaning/paper products, and all the money I spend at the canteen at work - which is far too much money all going on cheese pasties. I wont include my dog as I spend about £50 to £80  a month on his food (aaaarrrrggghhhh. Why did my dog have to have a sensitive stomach and need special vet food??)

So far I haven't been near a shop but have spent £1.95 on fattening, unhealthy food at the canteen. Ooops - that had better change!

I've been trying to come up with something to take instead; the best I have come up with is homemade scones - does any one know if they can be frozen so I can make a bread-machine full to last me a few weeks?

(Sorry, or should that part be going in its own post? Hope I'm doing this right!)

    G.

Welcome to the thread, I won't advise you on the scones as you'd need a trip to the dentist after eating one of mine :D

Scones don't last longer than 1 hour in our house. I leave them on the side to cool. OH grabs a couple becuase of the temptation. I can't resist either. Before very long we have both managed to polish the lot off.

    I know we're greedy pigs

Welcome to the boards by the way.

Hi GemmaJ, welcome to old style.

If you have a look in my signature under Our Collections then click on recipes you'll find loads of ideas. There are 2 links to lunch for work and packed lunches. and there's another one somewhere which I'll add when I find it.

Edit: the other link is HERE

Welcome to the boards, GemmaJ, and to the challenge. I came in part way through last month and it still worked for me.

Don't forget to do a separate budget for your dog's food. It doesn't have to come under your grocery budget, but it still comes out of your monthly spends.
