My favourite meal is spag bol and we've only got one meal left of that in the freezer, so we'll have to think of some creative ways of padding it out even more. I used to make enough for just two meals from 1lb of mince, but last time it was 3 meals - using chopped carrots, celery, lentils, mushrooms. Any ideas of how to pad it out even more?

We were always taught at school to use TVP like Quorn to pad the meat out. You should use 75% meat to 25% TVP and you wouldnt know the difference

    Quick porridge:-

    Saves fuel, time and money...

Instead of buying those expensive small packs of porridge to heat in the microwave ...pre-mix your porridge (from a large and economical bag of oats) with milk. Leave to soak in the frige overnight then simply pop in the microwave for 90 seconds and it will be cooked perfectly.

Optional extras you can include are a pinch of cinnamon/ dried fruit/seeds etc etc. Very healthy and very cheap!
  • Hi
I would like to start the grocery challenge:j

I spend between £350 to £450  a month for 2 adults and 2 very hungry teenagers.

I would love to bring this down so i can save money and pay off my debts.

Being realistic:D i think i'll try to get my spend down to £300.

I'll be checking out all the tips and hope i can stick to this budget

    Thanks
