Indeed. I was just refuting the idea that the EU not wanting to negoiate with May says anything about about how tough a negotiator Theresa "U-Turn" May is.

As you will know if you've even vaguely followed politics since Corbyn was made leader of the Labour party, he and his clique have performed dozens of U-turns & way way more than May ever has. There have been instances when Corbyn has U-turned twice in the same day & countless occasions where he's said something stupid, been hurridly briefed & had to change his position later that day.

And of course as recently as this week we have him performing a complete U-Turn on his promise to write off existing student debt.

Oh dear, more coverage of Jeremy "U-Turn" Corbyn's lie to students:

    https://order-order.com/2017/07/19/shadow-cabinet-minister-admits-not-possible-keep-student-promise/

Andrew Neil: Sarah Champion, when Jeremy Corbyn said a week before the election, a week before voting, he told voters that quote ‘he would deal with historic student debt’ what did he mean by that?

Sarah Champion: Well you would have to ask him......

Hsi lies won't be so easily believed again.

I may be mistaken, but I don't recall him saying he *will* erase historic student debt. They'd promised to scrap the fees and that was costed, but the only said they'd look into doing something about existing debt.

His U-turns are nothing on May - the pensions, national insurance, no election. There was something She'd turned on and then turned back within about 3 hours, but I've forgotten what it was.

    Here's 9 of her U-Turns:

On Corbyn, I've only found a U-Turn on removing a benefits raise cap and the police shoot-to-kill policy, recently. And then there's this stuff from 2015 which seems, well, petty:

Why else give an interview to the NME?
Jeremy Corbyn has hinted he would eradicate huge swathes of debt owed by graduates who paid £9,000 a year for their degrees.
He added: “And I don’t see why those that had the historical misfortune to be at university during the £9,000 period should be burdened excessively compared to those that went before or those that come after. I will deal with it.”

A salutory lesson to all new voters. Don't believe a poltician. :silenced:

Although when he said Holland you instantly knew he was referring to The Netherlands which rather proves the point that it wasn't a problem saying Holland.
I was familiar with the inappropriate use. Not the same thing.

Bit like calling someone of limited height "short !!!" - I know what you mean, but it doesn't therefore make it a good thing.
I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!

I genuinely haven't been following this story in any depth but this article states that he hinted rather than promised so I don't see it as particularly persuasive. There must be better items in the media about this surely.

That is an absolutely unambiguous message. He clearly misled those voters by pretending he would write off their existing student loans.

His U-Turn has not gone down well:

    https://order-order.com/2017/07/19/tory-videos-labours-student-debt-u-turn-hit-1-3-million-views-3-days/

Over on Facebook, Tory videos on Jezza’s fantasy policy shambles have now been viewed 1.3 million times in three days, and shared over 50,000 times – more than the vast majority (possibly all) of anti-Labour posts during the election.

I've read that post several times but can't for the life of me see where he has said that he will write off any debts.

    Meanwhile...

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4657896/Theresa-plan-slash-tuition-fees-grab-youth-vote.html

I haven't actually read the article because it's in the Daily Mail but it seems as though the Tories are looking for another magic money tree.

Apologies if this has already been discussed but as I say, I haven't been following this one.

Er so where does it say they will borrow to pay for it??

He said "..the only way to cut fees and maintain standards and student numbers would be by raising taxes, ‘

You need to stop reading just headlines and start reading the articles - at least. One is designed to grab attention (for you) - the other hopefully to discuss / present the matter albeit with a paper bias.
