Speed traps

I feel it was unfair and targeted as they knew it would be busy after a hot day !
I know what you mean. I remember going to carnival last year -- it was a hot day and the supermarkets were packed with people buying booze.
There were lots of police patrolling the area, and they caught a shoplifter trying to run away with some drink. Just like your situation, it was unfair and targeted as they knew it would be busy after a hot day!0 -

Or maybe, like your speedometer, you missed seeing it.TadleyBaggie wrote: »Nope, no warning signs are required.AndyMc..... wrote: »You thought wrong.
I thought I wasn't imagining things:
In 2001 the law was changed so that speed cameras had to be painted yellow to ensure visibility. Many other rules were also brought in regarding speed cameras.
"The regulations decree that:
speed camera housings must be coloured yellow
camera housings cannot be obscured, e.g. by trees, bushes or signs
cameras must be visible from 60m away in 40mph or less zones and 100m for all other speed limit zones
signs must only be placed in areas where camera housings are located or where mobile cameras are in operation
in order to make them visible, mobile speed camera operators must wearing fluorescent clothing, and their vehicles should be marked with reflective strips
camera sites are to be reviewed at least every six months in order to ensure that cameras are adequately visible and signed.""There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

But this isn't a speed camera.0 -
AndyMc..... wrote: »But this isn't a speed camera. Was driving back from Whitby after a nice day and so where many others.
Loads of traffic flowing by.
All traveling steady 35 / 40 mph
Went around a bend a sign says 30 and straight after it a police van but the cop was holding a camera / speed gun I didn't have time to react it was so quick I didn't even know what he was doing at first until after I realised.
He must have pretty much caught thousands of cars as we where all together at a steady 35 / 40 .
I do t know the rules on speed traps . I guess they don't need to warm you.
I know I was doing 35 mph so just have to wait for letter now
Hope it's speed course or just a fine. Don't want points.

Not happy.
Maybe it was a hair dryer!;)"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

Google is your friend. Just like it's mine."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

This may come as a shock, but not everything on the internet is true.
In this case, there never were such regulations. There were guidelines, long since superseded.
The government announced recently (2015?) that cameras would be painted yellow again, but AFAIK have done nothing about it.0 -

Your friend is wrong in this case.0 -
And how do these guidelines/regulations apply for hand-held speed guns?
I may well be wrong (and am happy to be corrected) but a hand-held speed gun is neither a fixed nor mobile speed camera.0
