The part in bold (regardless of whether or not it concerns cameras, or radar guns, or both) doesn't say that warning signs must be positioned for traps.
It says that they mustn't be positioned where there isn't a trap. So a local authority can't go around putting up signs warning of enforcement as a deterrant in places where no enforcement takes place.
There's a world of difference!
So basically they can put them anywhere.0 -

As long as there's enforcement going on in that vicinity, yes, they can put signs up.
But they don't have to put signs up if enforcement's taking place.0 -

But they don't have to put signs up if enforcement's taking place.
So they can put a sign up anywhere because enforcement is possible on any road.0 -

To be clear, there is NO law requiring speed cameras, traps, etc. to be signposted, or to be visible, or to be painted yellow, pink or tartan.
There is also NO law preventing anyone from putting up warning signs, whether or not there is active enforcement.0 -

They would have to show that enforcement does take place there, not may take, or has taken, place as per the wording:
"Where enforcement takes place", rather than "where enforcement may take place" or "where previous enforcement took place"But the original quote is not the law, it's from an ill-informed advisor.

Agreed, and that was covered repeatedly first time round, but without anyone pointing out the simple fact that, whether regulation or guideline or fairytale, it didn't actually say what he was claiming in the first place!0 -
