I resent people who ignore the speed limit - even those who don't "make a habit" out of it.
The important thing is you got caught and fined.
Blimey. You have a real chip about that don't you? As a perfect driver, I'm amazed you ended up driving a car into a hole that was visible from space due to poor observation.0 -

Yes, I do have a chip. But I like hearing people getting caught and fined for it. I like even more when I hear that people lose their licence. Keeping to the speed limit is really simple and safer for everyone.0 -
Next time I'll be sure to ride my space ship - that way I'll see it then I guess.

It's already been said, keeping to the limit is not always safe.0 -

Keeping to or below would be more accurate I agree. The speed limit is a limit, not a targetSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Comments like this prove how speeding is widely, socially acceptable. People see it as normal to break the limit and "square" to drive no faster than the limit - to the point where they don't believe that someone might actually never speed.
My brother was nearly killed by a driver when I was 15. The police said speed was most likely the reason the driver lost control and hit him. He was in intensive care for several weeks and was left disabled and unable to work (and got a very nice payout from the driver's insurers which bought him a house and he's lived on very comfortably for the last twenty years).
Maybe going 5mph over the limit isn't exactly going to be the difference between life and death in a crash, but what does it gain you? You get somewhere a few minutes earlier? And what do you do with that time? Spend a few extra minutes with your family? I'd prefer to get there a few minutes later and ensure I don't take someone away from their family forever.
I prefer to drive no faster than the limit, arrive more relaxed, not have to worry about speed cameras, police traps, penalty notices dropping onto the door mat etc.
And in answer, no, I've never even gone 1mph over the limit. Ever.0 -

No, he said safe.Retrogamer wrote: »Breaking the speed limit isn't always dangerous and maintaining the speed limit isn't always safe.0 -

And as I said it's was already pointed out that driving to the limit isn't always safe. So what's your problem with that?0
