Work in automotive/aerospace engineering, would be willing to travel a max of 20 minutes to get to work, to start I will be renting so doesn`t matter as long as there`s 2 bedrooms, renting max of £600pm until we find a place we want to buy, and I'm not interested in any deprived areas and as far as I know Hull is one of the worst places to live so that's a no.....

Despite having ruled out all the Midlands, there are some nice bits quite close to where you are, and Jaguar Landrover workwise.
Admittedly Nuneaton isn't great, but I'm not sure why you're ruling out all the rest of the area. Unless you do just want a complete change?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • The Ribble Valley came out top as the place to live recently. It is a lovely area and well blessed with transport links to city hubs.

Well I'm a southerner and love lots of the south but I have to say there are fantastic parts of the Midlands, loads of them. Anyway, have you thought of being north of Bath which can be rent pricey, but south of Nuneaton, somewhere in between?

The Vale of Evesham north of the Cotswolds?

Wiltshire can be great value for money but lovely, I lived there once, near Salisbury. Used to hop over to the coast and New Forest.

Dorset - there are some cheaper parts.

These questions are kinda difficult to get a handle on, we all have wildly varying tastes. Personally I get depression being near industrial built up places that lack greenery.

Congestion does my head in too, and lots of southern towns and Cities can get very congested. Uttlesford area comes out in top areas to live over and again I notice and not too congested.

M3 corridor towns? In Hampshire for example?

Northern Ireland - house prices low.

Most places are within easy reach of amentities and not too far from the coast.

There are also a quite a few big aeronautical employers about - Bombardier in Belfast, BE Aerospace in Kilkeel etc - its a priority sector

Your right "Hull" is horrendous despite its city of culture stature, however I live about a 25-30 minute drive in a loverly village and I know of nicer (more expensive) villages closer to Hull. From here I have a fairly easy to commute to York but can easily go to any of Leeds/York/Hull/Doncaster/Sheffield/S!!!!horpe all within 30 minutes to an hour.

Plus - In my village £600PCM would get you in a 3 bed terrace or possibly a semi - but there is not a lot for rent in the village atm.

However you have got to go to where the work is, its no good looking at different places unless you can get a job there. Wages in the South are higher then the North but that does not mean disposable income will be.

you don't seem to be open to a lot of areas based on hearsay.

There's a huge aerospace place outside Cardiff.

If you don't want deprived then you will have to be prepared to pay for that privilege.
  • If you move to Bristol or Bath and commute between there is no problem the train takes 10 mins or 15 mins if you get a stopping one (Oldfield Park, Keynsham) whereas the bus can take an hour or more (due to congestion on the A4) Redfield is a good place to start in Bristol, 2 mins by train (from Lawrence Hill to Temple Meads and the fare is only 75p or £1.20 rtn). train every 30 mins on the 'Severn Beach Line' plus trains to Bristol Parkway, Gt Malvern, Cardiff & Worcester stop on odd occasions.

West Wales is cheap (and I mean dirt cheap) , the scenery is stunning and the people are lovely BUT jobs are not abundant.

Which is why I suggested the towns and villages AROUND the Hull area, not Hull itself...

And a 20 minute commute?? With traffic down south, you would need to live really close to where you work due to traffic, and if you require the insustrial areas for work, then you are perhaps looking at grotty estates.

Are you sure this isn't a school holiday wind up thread?? Tiny budget and wanting a nice place to live but suggested London???????

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
