With your budget £600 a month for rent for two bedrooms that limits you to middle, north of the country and Wales.

Are there any nice places in these areas?

The area you are looking at is enormous. Plymouth is as far from say Portsmouth as Sheffield is from London. You need to be more focussed about where work might be found.

I would look at the midlands and the north. In the south, you do not get as nice a home or as great a quality of life for your money as you can get everywhere else.

Yes looked on BBC, and £600 is just a start till we find a property we want to buy, Have looked in wales but not sure it`s suitable jobs wise, the north does look a good option for me, and Wokingham looks great but not sure for work I`ll dig into that

In the South East, £600 a month will rent you a shoe box in a nice area, or a tiny flat in a nasty area!!!

I'm from the midlands, but currently living in Oxfordshire. Yes, it is pretty, but so ridiculously expensive to live. I would love to move back to the midlands as we could sell our family home here and live in a similar house almost mortgage free!

A 'nice' place to live would be one where you can afford a decent family home.

I would be staying in the midlands, but perhaps move to a nicer area!

I guess Midlands in another area but I just want out the area completely

I'd first think where a good place to find a job is and then work out affordable areas close by. No point living somewhere ' nice' but then finding yourself unable to find work.
Also try not to generalise too much. I live in a medium size town. Within the same town there are nice places that are sought after. Looking at maybe £380k - £450k for a 3 bed house on the nice side and then as little as £280k on the not so nice side which is quite deprived.
For practicality Milton Keynes has a variety of homes for all budgets. There are some large companies there and its a manageable journey into London. Sure it lacks character but for practical purposes it could be worth a look? Would be a bit more than £600 though. £750 would get a 2 bed place.

Have looked myself for deprived areas, my budget will be £600 a month for rent loads of choice I guess just got to look at areas with plenty of jobs suitable, The area I live currently lacks jobs I want, have looked at Bath, Exeter, Plymouth, Wokingham, Brighton, Bristol, and so on don`t mind living on the outskirts within a few mile radius to get there, my best bet will be going for a look around the areas

If you can get work in Plymouth, it would be a good choice as it'll be significantly cheaper than the others on the list. I lived there for 3 years and to be able to leave work and be on the beach or out on Dartmoor in 20 mins is great.

Near to MK there's Bedford, very easy to commute to London, but more character than MK. Plus voted one of the best places to bring up kids in one of the above lists.

Bath is one of the most expensive cities in the UK to live in.

Plymouth is towards the other end of the scale.

Both have pros and cons. Both very different places with different things to offer.
