They have replied really quickly, offering a replacement or 50% off any other model on their site. Thank you mummy_bear as I wouldn't have thought to contact them again.

  • Morning. Not decided what to do yet as the warranty will soon be over on a replacement if it happens again, if I have a newer model at least i'll have a 2 year warranty. DH has said I can have a new model, I just cant bring myself to spend the money.

Another wet and miserable day out there. Think I might put my 'school' subscriptions to work later and print off lots of 'work' for the little ones.

Yesterdays spends were £2.10 on parking as DH has changed shifts so didn't need the £10 bus fare and the shopping came to a whopping £90!!There wasn't even that much dinner food in it as trying to use things from the freezer. I've found i'm having to buy lots of snack foods while the kiddies are off. As i'm at work in the afternoons and DH in bed, they are waking him up to say they are hungry instead of asking DD1 to make them something, so lots of crisps, biscuits, fruits etc, that they can get themselves (I don't usually let them have so much 'junk' food) hopefully this will be easier when I break up in a couple of weeks.

£100 DD has come out for CC. Just worked out minimums for this month and it's £7 less than last month, at least it's going in the right direction. I need to do a BT at some point as a 0% ends on 1st sep, no chance of paying it before as it's a big 7k part. Just realised with the BT charges that means I wont get it below the 30k (and 10% paid) mark this month, I had been looking forward to seeing that.

Well rest of the little ones are finally emerging, better go and sort some breakfasts.

    Have a lovely day x

I think most grocery budgets go up a little in the summer holidays, I know my kids eat more when they're off just because they can :rotfl:
  • Always makes me wonder how they make it to lunch time at school without shouting that they are starving lol.

Yesterday was a NSD! Today might not be though, it's little ones swimming lessons and big ones have asked to go swimming too.

Yesterday we decided to tackle the pantry! We were keeping things on the worktop as we couldn't get them in and I want the kitchen tidy to finally order the new freezer! Cant believe I've put it off so long and saved for it and didn't just get the credit card out! I can't remember the last time we used the credit card.
The pantry is a little room with a concrete slab and a thin window sill shelf. Everything gets thrown in there and gets lost and things end up going out of date/rotten where it gets buried on the slab. We half filled the bin! loads of part open boxes, ice cream cones gone soggy, meringues gone hard and lots and lots of bags that had been under the fruit that had gone off and covered in goo. It's now sorted and tidy and I think the first job to be done in the house might be the pantry. A coat of paint and some proper shelves so we can see what is in there and it doesn't get wasted. I think it will save money in the long run if we aren't wasting so much food.
On the plus side we have about 10 bottles of squash and biscuits to last a good while! I know that sounds like we are really scruffy but we're not, honest, just as the shopping arrives it gets thrown onto the slab and we forget what is in there. Ive pulled the fruit stand out and thrown it, I wont buy as much fruit and it can go straight in the bowl to save that going off too. Going to try and tackle some of the kitchen cupboards today so I can see what is in them.

Need to remember to pay the council tax this week and sort some doctors appointments too. I break up next Wednesday, a few days before I thought, I cant wait.

Ooooh I'm jealous - would love a pantry. Had one growing up with a marble slab which was great fir keeping things cool. I've now got a utility room which I dearly love but pantry is next on my wish list. I know what you mean about shoving stuff away and forgetting it, is so easily done

Thanks Lucylocks. It's nothing fancy, just the cupboard under the stairs with a slab in. Think we might have to take the slab out to shelve it though. Put all the bread bits at eye level on the thin shelf so we saw it on opening the door, it'sa soggy bag of mush! Definitely need to rearrange it. We have a utility room too, but again nothing fancy, it was the old coal shed so just big enough for the 2 washers and the dryer and boiler (and another load of rubbish that gets crammed in there, lol).
well done on your debt payments, just seen your Sig. That's a fantastic amount gone.

My pantry has DIY shelves in, metal garage free standing units they were around £25 for a double on eBay and its perfect! They are really heavy duty so hold everything I need.
  • Good morning. Woke up with a really sore throat, hoping it's not the start of something!

Hidden, we measured it for a shelving unit as we have some in the shed but because it starts sloping at about 3 ft high we wouldn't get a tall set in. Hopefully just some contiboard (or whatever it's called) and shelf brackets wont cost too much.

Yesterday was almost a NSD, I was doing well until about 5pm. Kiddies didn't go swimming so saved there, but while I was waiting for the little ones in their lesson I ordered cat litter at £36 (8 bags) and hoover bags at £9. Cat litter has gone up 50p a bag so might not work out any cheaper than buying it from work with my discount now. Will check price next time I am in.

Also ordered my new fitbit at £70. I went for a new version as at least I have a new 2 year warranty. Bank account is still looking pretty good for should still be ok by the end of the month. Girls have a swimming lesson on Friday then none for 2 weeks so will save a bit of money there. DH said we never use our birthday/Christmas money for us so i'm only having a late birthday present.

Also put a £1 change on my work card as I was starving and the vending machine pinched it!! I was so looking forward to that bag of crisps. As I was there until midnight (that was about 8) the team leader went and bought me a bag of crisps and a chocolate bar, so need to return the favour to say thank you.

Today is a washing day and waiting for deliveries. The sun is shining! DS nappies arrived at 8.30, I had just dragged myself out of bed as DH got in. Hoping to go for a walk or something later when DH gets up as Thursdays are our only day off together.

  • Morning.
Well yesterday didn't go to plan, sore throat didn't get any better and spent all afternoon being sick. My throat is still so sore, I cant even swallow and its kept me awake most of the night.

DH went to the shops yesterday, £32 on a sack of dog food and £10 on popcorn, cheese and beer.

Just checked the bank and another CC payment has come out so £449 paid so far this month. Can look at doing the balance transfer from that card now.

Off to work soon. Might grab some pizzas for tea on my way out as girls are swimming later and it's a quick switch over between me getting home and DH going.
