  • Good morning. Just want to update spending from last few days. I want to try and keep track of everything this month.
    Tuesday was a NSD.
Wednesday was £9 on a DVD and £18 from Christmas fund on a dressing gown for DD1. Then £89 from the childrens account for swimming lessons. Also £73 in fuel but it hadn't had any for about 5 weeks.
Thursday was the dentist, £57 for me. Called at the shop for a few bits after, children had some sweets as well, £8 and £15 on 2 new school bags for the little 2. Dh also fetched some beer, £5.

So some very spendy days! Off to work soon so shouldn't spend anything today.

    Spendy but budgeted for ;)
  • Thank HI. Was nice to know it was all budgeted for as Christmas is one of the main culprits for getting the CC out.

Eek.. Christmas!! Been talking to the children about money being tighter this year and to start thinking about what they would like. Was so much easier when they were little! DS1 has said there is nothing he wants (we always struggle with him) and DD1 has asked for an early Christmas present of a body board!

We had been looking at a holiday in October with my sister (nothing expensive) but DH couldn't get time off work, the other day out of the blue, his boss said to give him the dates again and he'll have another look, there's a lot of staff left so think the dates might now be available. So today we have been having a little look a sites (and getting way too excited that we might get a week away!) Hence DD1 asking for the body board early.

Better get some sleep as need to walk to work at 9 for a 10-7 shift, so should be a NSD tomorrow.

  • That is so caring of your husbands boss to remember. My boss is like that little Brittan computer-says-no type, would never remember anything so important. I hope you can get away and enjoy it. Without trying to sound too hippy family time away and making memories is honestly so precious. (Well I'm sure you know this!)

My dad always did a 24 hour job and people always used to put him first at Christmas - because we are a big family like you and he would always have Christmas Day awake and with us even if he had to work the night of Christmas Day. All of the people he worked with said that he needed to be at home more than anyone. Which I always look back on and love. It did make a big difference to us.

I think when you have a big family it is really sensible to start thinking about Christmas now. I hope yours is beautiful and I know that the kids will get the money thing even if it's just for this year. They might not tell you that tho. I love all
The Christmas planning but the expense is never welcomed.

    Thank you both.
Apparently someone else had asked for the days off and he said DH had asked first so would have a look. DH has took the days he would need in and his boss thought he would only want 2 days holiday, he needs 6 so said he will have a look and get back to him. Due to him being contracted to fri/sat/sun nights he would have to take 2 full weekends as holiday for us to take a sat-sat holiday. So still no idea if he will get it or not.

Yesterday I walked the 3k to work. So saved on bus fare. Did put £1 on my staff card for a bag of crisps and a bar of chocolate. Leaving at 8.30 with no breakfast, meant I hadn't eaten all day. Fetched bread, waffles and gravy when I finished, £2.70 and DH took £2to put on his dinner card.

Yesterday was the last day of the months money, left from last sunday as it was still in July, and I have £50 left in notes and £10 of change. Going to keep the change and put the notes away. Going to do the same this month.

Should have been first shop of the month today but not defrosted the freezer so didn't want to fill it up. Lots of meats in the freezer that need using up as collecting quiet a bit of frost. Wrote a list of what is in there today and shopping will just be fruit/veg, breakfast, lunch and snack food. Really need to sort through the cupboards too as there is a lot of packets/jars that need using too.

Today will be a NSD, tomorrow will be the shopping and bus fares to the hospital for DS appointment.

Just paid £100 to CC before i forget, it's the only one not on DD as it's a pain to set up.

I've spent all day with the washers going and switching it round on the line. I can finally see the top of the wash basket! Few more loads to go yet. Only thing i'm a bit worried about is the smell from the washer on the spin cycle! It smells a bit like burning, like 2 metals rubbing together? Will get DH to investigate but no ore washing being done until he gets up. Watching the weather to get the rest of the washing in as gone very very dark out there.

Also emailed fitbit customer support, will see if I hear anything back. It was purchased in jan 16 and replaced October 16.
