I've come from a fast-moving city and certainly those in my area noticed that some houses in next area over were being mis-labelled as being in our area. We knew exactly what streets were (or weren't) in our area and it had a very distinct "boundary" - so there was no excuse.
One does have to live in an area for a while to pick up the area nuances.
One does normally find a map of the street/area in the particulars these daysIts not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0 -

Don't go too far North £220k would only buy a two bed flat round hereIts not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0 -
I also definitely fall into the camp of drooling over properties that need vision and work to make them come back to life... we looked round this one (hoping they might take a low offer ;-) and we could live in it as it is until we saved up to renovate it into our dream home:

But in reality the place needs £400k spending on it (the back of the house is practically falling down) ... I have never been into such a badly cared for house before. So that firmly took it out of our budget. But I still drool!0 -

Very expensive plot?0 -
Sometimes, agents and owners deliberately get it wrong, if a property lies close enough to an area with a high reputation.
My first two houses were technically in a place called Lower Weston, but people used to market them as being in Audley Park, which is mainly an area of fine detached properties.
I don't know the Oldham area, so I'm not sure if that might be what's going on.
I would suspect that the problem is Failsworth. So they put it in Manchester instead but I still think that it is misleading.0 -
On my school run I get to drive past houses that are so expensive they won't tell you the price unless you talk to them...
