Will you buy a diesel car now?

Should be some bargain diesels for sale with them soon getting taxed to drive into London.0

I wouldn't buy a modern diesel in a million years, but I am picking up a 1996 diesel this weekend. It's the best engine for the job. If London or the big cities don't want me, I can live with that. I have no problem with using public transport or cycling in any case.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0

I'm not sure about the logic on that one. If diesel values have dropped it will make the next purchase harder for the owner which means they'll probably hold onto the car longer.
Also it's obvious the government will go after other sorts of cars once diesel has been milked dry so what's the point in risking another loss in value on another car?0 -

Next time it's definitely petrol for me though. I was lied to/ripped off, then sent up the river without a paddle.
What a ridiculous attitude. Things don't stay the same forever. Just because new research finds that diesel isn't a clean as we thought doesn't mean there was some scam to rip you off.
Whenever you buy anything there is a risk that it will quickly be outdated or obsolete. That is just the way of the world. But diesel cars are not going to disappear quickly so what you have is not now worthless.
Maybe make your next car electric, because petrol might be on the way out soon as well. Or maybe electric might be....0 -
My other half has a 2017 diesel, so misses these new taxes. I now have an electric car (Leaf 30kW) which I really feel is the future.
I think, in 10-15 years, most cars will be electric to be honest.0 -

Can't answer poll, as my next car will be a PHEV or full electric.
I looked at a couple. Unfortunately, they don't work for me. Too expensive to buy, the range on electric charge is too limited and they are not economical when running on petrol.0 -
What kind of mileage would you expect an older diesel to return before it needs replacing?
Just curious.Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080 -

Depends on what kind of life the car has had. Has it been abused or looked after? Serviced regularly or neglected? I have seen high mileage cars in nice condition and relatively low mileage cars trashed.0 -

My 2006 Peugeot has just hit the 170,000 miles mark, and - touch wood ! - I've never had an ounce of trouble with it. All I do is service it at the scheduled times, which is cheap and easy to do myself.0
