Evening all. What a fab weather day - so good for the soul :D busy few days for various reasons but I have managed to:

Got 600 extra mr s points when I bought some wine on offer for a weekend away in a few months. I'll get paid back so cost neutral to me
Bought some ys carrot/swede mix and cooked in microwave and will mash
Ys cauli cheese now in freezer
Bought flowers for one of my team that was leaving - found some ys ones that were still 'in date' and good nick so looked fab
Packaged up my meat and fish delivery into portions, including labelling the fish. Only ones I left as a two were the haddock as they were very thin and I was worried about damaging them so they will be an indulgent treat one night
    Did some surveys
Up to date with washing - including 6 lots of swimming gear
Managed to run my payslip for next pay (although it's 3 weeks away) as I have access to our payroll system as I wanted to see impact my change in tax code had. An extra £89 every 4 weeks :T
Put some pictures up on the wall using stuff we already had (mixture of frames and printed photos already had)
DH nearly finished a commission that will earn him £40
Order arrived that'll make me £40 profit
    Cleaned around downstairs
Had BBQ tonight, used bread and chicken and sausages from freezer. Bought burgers and froze half. Decided not to go out for a few drinks in a beer garden.

We have bought DH a new car  however, loan paydown find is already in action (great idea foxglove) and I have taken a loan that I can deliberately overpay at will as much and as many times as I want :D off to play with my overpayment spreadsheet :o

    Hi all

Been feeling a bit flat today, partly because the sun was shining and I needed to work! However 3.5hrs paid stuff done which I am pleased with. Windows cleaned, hoovering done, lots of laundry dried in the sunshine. Was tempted to offer to buy a takeaway as DS has his gf sleeping over but in the end made them fajhitas with ingredients we already had.

The plan is to have a day off tomorrow and get the bikes out so have just been mapping a route. The forecast is for another glorious day so hope they are right!

Hi all, hope everyone has had a good weekend.

Been reading along but not much to add.

    Twins, re the shopping:

Farmfoods: fabulous, especially for bulk buying!

    110 finish dishwashing tablets £7.99
1L+ fairy liquid for a couple of pounds
Large bottles I'd treseme shampoo and conditioner for a few pounds.

3 for £10 or 5 for £15 on frozen meats (avoid the mince though, but everything else I've had has been yummy!)
18 toilet rolls think it's 2.99 or 3.99, either way they are fab, really thick and soft.
24 packs of cat food pouches - usually have an offer on too.
Slabs of cans of juice for £5, milk 2 for £1.80. honestly I love farmfoods!

Iceland aren't too shabby either and i love home bargains, b&m and pound stretchers.

I usually know the cheapest place to buy everything, so tell me what you buy and I'll give you the best place.

I'm up for the challenge lol.

Anyways, hope all you lovely people are having a nice weekend.

    L. Xx
Debt peak approx £30,000  now debt free!!! :j
My parents always said "If you can't afford it cash, you can't afford it!" so true!.... mind you, turns out we can't afford much lol :rotfl:

Morning all, been awake a while so catching up on diaries and thought I'd post my list and thoughts for the day. We too need to cut back on food purchases. Much better last 6 weeks or so. Must keep it up. Nearest Lid1 a bit of a journey but could divert on way home from work one day and try that to see if it helps.

    Anyway, today's list:

Washing that's just finished out on line
Picnic from home for day out
Visit (about an hour away) local NT place. One of our faves. With said picnic and drinks
May stretch to an icecream though from treat fund ;)
    Run for free exercise
    Free yoga from YT tonight
Double check fridge for anything that can be frozen
Freeze ys swede/carrot that I got and cooked yesterday mash and portion with ice cream scoop first
Load washing machine tonight for cheap wash and DW
Write meal plan for week. Identify meals and snacks for smalls whilst off school so we're not tempted to get more in
Update April to do list and see what seems achievable this week with it being a 4 day week :T
Maybe plant a couple of things if we're not back too late.

    Enjoy the sunshine everyone.

    Morning all :hello: :coffee:
Well, yesterday ended up being a bit of a write off because I got a migraine :( I managed to do ds football run and my tutoring but very little else. I was in bed by 8pm after lying about on the sofa all evening. I slept on and off, but for a long time, and feel pretty much normal today - although I am stressed about how much we have to do and how little time I have before we go away. It's one of those days where I wish we had 2 cars...
    So plans for today:
Need to go out and get cat food for bestie to feed kitties while we're away
Take dd to return a top she bought but changed her mind about
    Sort one bag of rubbish
Complete washing and drying of clothes
    Start packing
Boys off to watch Sunderland lose at football
    Afternoon at my mam's house
Marking (will have to take this with me to my mam's)
Hoover and mop right through and pretend I keep my house at least partly tidy.
I think I'd best enjoy my cuppa and the grand prix because it's going to be a very busy day indeed...
Twins - there are 4 of us in our house. I usually shop at the beginning of the month for about £100 and then 3 or 4 top up shops about £35 each during the month. That's if I'm being good - I haven't been good for a while now with groceries unfortunately.

Twins have you tried mealplanning? I find doing a plan a real chore but it definitely works, especially if you only buy for what's on the list.

We live in the middle of no-where so the likes of Aldi, Asda, Tesco, Iceland etc are an hour's drive away. I can't seem to do online grocery shopping without going over budget so I rely a lot on Lidl, our only local supermarket.

I spend £75 a week for essentially 4 adults as our youngest is 16. I cook everything from scratch and use the slow cooker a lot. Not easy though.

    Morning all,

Well what a glorious day it is to be stuck in work! I will get out at lunchtime for a run so I can at least enjoy some of it.

Re grocery spends. Ours is HORRIFIC. I used to spend approx. £100-£120 pcm for the two of us. This has now easily doubled. Part of this is moving away from the city centre. I've lost the market, Chinese supermarket and can't swing by as many places for YS bargains. The other part of it is that we got very picky about food. We went over to organic veg box veggies and organic meat from a very good butcher. Also OH is eating more these days because he does so much training.

At the moment, we can afford it but would cut back if we had to. I'm trying to think of ways to trim it down a bit but my ill health over the past couple of months has made keeping on top of batch cooking etc quite difficult. It's also hard to get OH to help. I feel like I'm a manager giving him directions all the time! I have left him another list of "chores" today. If I don't, he doesn't do anything because it just doesn't occur to him what may need doing.

I'm feeling a bit grumpy today - mostly directed at OH although this may be partially caused by the fact that I dreamt he'd binned a load of my stuff last night!
In real life last night he managed to set fire to one of my expensive best tea towels and smash my pretty cherry glass in the rush to put it out

Going through one of my periodic things where I feel a bit hard done by. Probably require a small dose of MTFU ;) (or go for a run!)

    Today's mission:
    • D from stores. Picked up a bag of microwave veg for lunch to go with lo pie. Treated myself to a pastry (or two :o) for breakfast. We've not been shopping for 2 weeks now and it doesn't seem to have occurred to OH that there's no food. Feel tempted to see how long it is before he notices. - done
    • Reconcile budget sheet with OH. Have been very spendy and will likely spend more. Am feeling a bit grumpy and devil-may-care
    • No alcohol - done
    • Have left a list for OH. Whether any of it gets done remains to be seen. Have asked him to clean the bathrooms, put some bread on and tidy round. - apparently he is doing some of it.
    • OH to send his invoice for last night - done
    • Run at lunchtime - nope as went to B&M to pick up compost bin.
    • Free stretching video
    • Plant out peas, potter in garden - weather set to continue to be dry so need to do a bit of watering. - done
    • Pod broad beans - done
    • Chop and freeze celery (bork)
    • Washing out on line - done
    • Email veg box people as got veg on Tuesday, went to get the cauliflower last night and it was mouldy  - done
    Have a glorious day all

Thanks HK - I think it's ok. Just a combo of cruddy food and too much caffeine on an empty tummy yesterday methinks :D

    Morning everyone!

Thank you all for your suggestions and tips on how to save on the weekly shopping bill. I've made my meal list for the week and I'm determined to stick to it! I need chicken and fish so I'll check the prices in Lidl and hopefully save there. I do end up buying lots of other bits when I go to Sainsbury's so I just need to stick to the list.

Mrs LWW - heck sausages are a fav, any good bargin places for those?Has to be lean chicken sausages I'm afraid.

    Today the plan is:

    - Do a couple of loads of washing and stick them out on the line to dry
    - Clean the bathroom
    - My Ebay item finishes today and I have one bid :T
    - I need to purchase a cheap and cheerful bicycle pump - any ideas?
    - Lunch and dinner from home and cupboards
    - Check for surveys
    - Check my banking

Have a wonderful sunny day everyone and don't forget the sun cream! :)
