What small DFW things will you do this week? W/c 3rd April

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Thank you DNMS, now we have a positive sighting of where she has been hanging out, I just hope she keeps going back there. So it's a waiting game, I dont suffer from anxiety but I had such bad anxiety last night waiting for news but it was too dark for the young lad to look whose garden she has been using.
I cannot believe she crossed a busy road, a friend that volunteers at the rspca said that it is the road that will have frightened her so much she has lost her bearings. Fingers crossed we get her back today, a waiting game but feel better today.
    Have already unloaded the dishwasher
Want to finish a letter before the school run
    School shirt to iron.
Meeting tonight which I'm really not in the mood for but will feel better once I'm there
Have to go and pick a parcel up
Don't need to spend anything, hoping for a no spend day
    Cat cleaning to do

Have a good day everyone and thank you for ur kind thoughts, they really are much appreciated xx

    Morning

Sounds encouraging HK, hope today brings good news.

I feel a bit sluggish this morning too, although I slept well, yesterday was such a busy day. Need a couple of bits from Li@l today but nothing else. Lots of paid stuff to do, will sneak to the gym in between jobs.

    Morning all :)
Thanks for starting the thread DNMS. I have been up for a while too, and the only things I have done are make coffee, let the dog out and read the news online :o Will jump in the shower and get on with it in a minute!

    Today's plans:
Think what to have for dinner tonight, meal planning fail here :oFinished up the last of a joint of ham, with egg and chips!
Deal with 3 or 4 apples in the fruit bowl which have started to go off - I will cut out the bad bits and use one as it is with breakfast, and cook the rest. Done, cooked all of the apples as I also noticed a browning banana that needed using, so had that for breakfast.
Put away items brought back from yesterday's boot sale Done
Get on with stocktaking, will 'do' items in the garage today! Done
Visit sales unit, see if anything needs doing there, maybe do stocktaking there too (which would finish it off :T) Done :j
More business paperwork Finished all stocktaking, all now entered on spreadsheet (instead of in a grubby exercise book :o)
Load of washing, dry on the line Left this, as I didn't have enough for a full load
Need to buy some bread, or dust off BM! Made a loaf, so achieved a NSD :T
    Dog walks Done
Made an appointment for another set of blood tests :(
Relist unsold items on ebay, really quiet again this weekend, only 1 item sold :(Done
Look for surveys, I think I am next in line for onepoll :pNone today :(

Bleurrgh, a bit wiped out due to all that paperwork! Off to bed I think.

Hope you have good news about your cat today HK.

    Hi gang

Sounds positive HK - fingers crossed!

Thanks for the kick off DNMS - sounds good about a wee day WFH. ;)

Thanks Dawn for the growing suggestions - I'm quite excited really. Hoping this sparks the inner gardener in me. :D

OH is off work today so I've had a bit more time this morning to reconcile banking after most of our bills have come out for this month. All looks good so far.

OH is going to do his application for the permanent job today so fingers crossed for that...

Not really organised in the way of breakfast, lunch or dinner (see what a weekend away does to you!!)...

Right, must get on with it.

    Happy Monday guys!
  • La E I'm all about the vegetables in terms of gardening. If it were me I'd look in to square foot gardening and grow things that will climb to get the most out of the planter. I would put some companion flowers in to ward off pests :-)

In terms of veg always grow what you like and what is expensive to buy :)

Morning all! First day of my week off :)

Fingers crossed for your OH's job, LaE and also for a safe return of HappyKitties awol kitty.

I woke at 8.30am to call the doctor for an appointment, it took about ten minutes of calling but managed to get one for this afternoon, I'm going armed with a list!

The woman that is collecting my FB sale is coming at 7.30pm which means I will miss the YS run so I think the SFC steaks might finally get their moment tonight!

I have a couple of eggs not doing much so for lunch I'm planning to fry some cubes of potato with one of the packs of YS Parma ham and I will scramble them into that.

Today I'm planning on doing the very last of the sorting in the sitting room and then I'll give it a good clean.

I'm going to go to the garden centre for a bag of compost to put a fresh layer on top of all the pots, I fed them all yesterday with some slow release plant food I got from a sale last year. I also need to buy a biggish pot for a shrub I was given at Christmas. I'm going to fund this by selling two terracotta pots left here by the previous owners that are not to my taste but might be to someone else's (all cherubs and scrolls, I prefer just the basic, plain terracotta pots.)

    Have a good day everyone!

  • 1) I've sold 2 items on eBay overnight and for £23 and that's gone into my account.
    2) Going for lunch with a friend and have downloaded a 50% off food voucher
    3) Desperately need a new everyday bag for work (one which will get plenty of leaking biros in it) so intending to use vouchers I got last year for it.
    4) Go to Boots, buy travel essentials (suntan lotions etc) but use my £47 of advantage points I have built up
    5) Going to Manchester on Thursday and bought the cheapest return tickets instead of usual £20 extra each way going 1st class
    6) Have persuaded my sister to get some pizzas in from Sainsburys instead of blowing out on a £30 plus takeaway.
