So , yesterday I had my friend over to help me with one or two things in the flat . He is back today sometime .
I made sure we had a few ciders and stayed in my limit this time :)

Restless night because of humidy as well as the usual .
Almost cleared out wardrobe and will take all of my belongings over to the new flat tomorrow . Tomorrow , I should tidy up my present flat in preparation for landladys visit .

Now onto my bed. It is kingsize ( probably too small for me ;) )
When I was moving it from my old address , I did ask removal guys if I should chuck it or keep it . Keep it they said .
Got a new mattress from beales . However , it looks like one of the kegs is broken ( maybe 2 ). I sent a text to James yesterday and he said he will look at it tomorrow . It's metal , dare I say 'trendy'.
It has two large glass shelves . Optional if I use them .
It would house my bedside radio on one side and book or water on the other, saving the need for a bedside table . I hope it can be fixed .

This morning I am in new flat , sorting things out best I can to make space. I am sitting on a computer chair I took with me from my old flat. The new computer desk from beales is still wrapped .
It came assembled the same as the coffee table in the living room .
Not supposed to , but Celia looked after me :)
I will carry on moving stuff around into the appropriate rooms .
I have loads of carpet left, and am trying to think of where to put it apart from the obvious.
I put the Pilates machine outside my door in the communal area for James to oickuo tomorrow , folded of course. Will hopefully stumble a cross the 2 DVDs also

AC, apologies if you've already read this thread:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5656019

However I think somewhere in the past couple of weeks one of your posts mentioned interest being added to your debts on your Payplan DMP?

The above thread highlights quite clearly that this shouldn't happen, also the folly of relying on Payplan to act in your best interests, and lastly how to deal with any interest charges that have been made.

It will, unfortunately, mean you have to write letters though!

    Good luck.

Will look into this later . I won't go on too much about that as I am taking as breather from moving stuff around . What I do know is that I haven't been paying interest and also on the payplan website it tells you how much you have paid/ how much outstanding etc. It tells you all the letters sent to creditors etc . I will make a decision in the next couple of days about my next angle on how to make a settlement but not yet as I am in the middle of trying to find space :)
    Thanks

Friend came over for a couple of hours . Bed fixed. A few framed pictures are up . Washing machine plumbed in. Can't test till tomorrow as my detergent etc is in this flat.
Living room is ready. Bedroom ? Need wardrobe / shelving .
I've emptied wardrobe in my present flat ready to take over everything to the new flat. I may sleep in new flat if I manage to get new bedsheets . Lots to do . :)
I don't think I need james anymore after tomorrow. I think there's only one small job for him to do . I have lots to chuck out .
The gasroom is organised chaos. Light at the end of the tunnel .. sort of :)

Hey AC. Sounds like you've had a busy weekend. Couple more days and it'll all be over and you'll be fully in your new home. Then is the time to have a little look back at all you've achieved. Can be easy to forget as you move onto the next thing that needs doing - it's good to celebrate the successes sometimes. Sold up, quit job, moved to Poole, bought flat in your preferred location, cash no mortgage. New bathroom, painted entire flat, new carpets and furniture. All in 6 months. Really great going!

We've spent the weekend doing our garden. When we first moved in we thought we'd need to get someone in, neither of us know the first thing about gardening. But hard graft over last few weeks, advice from F&F and £200 and it's been transformed. Chuffed to bits!

    Hi
    Sorry for butting in.

I was on a DMP with Stepchange (CCCS as it was then) and my online statements with Stepchange showed that I wasn't paying interest either and how much I had paid/owed. Stepchange assumed, as I did, that the creditors had frozen interest. When I got to the end of my DMP, their figures were incorrect as some creditors had added interest and not informed CCCS or me, so I had a bit of a shock.

Worth contacting your creditors directly and establishing how much you do actually owe to avoid any nasty shocks. Seriously, you really should not rely on Payplan so much and take control as much as you can. I contacted the creditors directly and offered a starting point of 30% on all of my debts. I knew they wouldn't accept but it left room for negotiation. I settled some at around 50% and some at around 60% and one at around 70% if I recall. The best Stepchange would do was around 80% for all.

As you may recall, I dipped in occasionally to your other thread but rarely commented as you had great advice from others. I admire you for "jacking it all in" and starting again. I felt for you with your previous job in London as I was in a similar situation so it struck a chord. I did jack my job in and took a huge risk and went temping for a couple of years - was a great experience and I'm so glad I did. However, I've not moved house to a completely new area so I admire you for that as well.

Good luck with everything. I hope the flat move goes ok.

Wow! Thanks again for the kind words copperjar/ deeper:)
Yes a few things to mull over regarding my debt . Will think when I'm feeling ready .
I'm treating this like a student doing a gap year or similar .
One of my other friends will be visiting not long after I've tidied up the flat
    etc.
I've another possible job for james and will discuss with him tomorrow .

Glad the garden has come together copperjar . Make sure you have a bird feeder or bird bath :) Used to get all my bird food from the pound shop.
Dried mealworms were extremely popular :)
I'm gonna get a little bird bath for the area outside near the windows :)

A word of warning about feeding birds in coastal towns such as Poole. We live in south east cornwall and have a massive problem with seagulls swooping down, opening rubbish bags, depositing their faeces down our garden wall and on the conservatory roof and cars because our neighbour persists in putting food out every day. She says it is for the other birds but only the gulls come down and frighten all the other birds away. We have had to put spikes up on our wall to stop the seagulls perching there waiting for her to put the bird food out.

  • Sorry to hear that enthusiastic. Yeah, there are places that seagulls dominate. A small bird bath will suffice .
    Thanks for the tip :)
  • Got up early. Took most of my belongings over to new flat .
James nipped in and picked up Pilates machine . He'll be back tomorrow / thurs to discuss Job/ s I have for him .
Went to m&s and beales to buy some bedding for me and guests. Also bought landlady box of chocs . Interesting about beales . They will send my bedding with the chair . Saves me a lot of hassle . Came back via chippy way laden with carrier bags. I thought it best to buy a replacement bed sheet for landladys bed as I accidentally shrunk the mattress protector and existing bed sheet .sitting on balcony probably for the last time . I have to vacuum and clean the place shortly when I get my energy back .
Looks like tonight I will be sleeping in new home . Things will be awkward for while as I have no wardrobe etc . On the other hand, I can have a bath tonight instead of a shower . Lots going on :)
