Roasting again today. Difference this time round: I'm not wearing a stupid blue suit looking like a fully blown Swiss ball working in that place:)
The temperature will be more manageable Tuesday onwards .
We tend to get it all at once , then it levels out after a few days.

Strange day . Went to flat ,to crush huge boxes and polystyrene and dispose. I had 2 outstanding things to do.
    1) visit nationwide and pay james . 2) collect 3 huge t shirts I bought online at m&s. They are probably made for astronauts scientifically for fat barstewards on steroids so I had to get.

There are 2 nationwide branches in Poole . Went to usual one..system down can't do anything.advised to go to the one in the high street.
I waited patiently in the que. I then get accosted by a member of staff trying to reduce them que and save time. I refused , but didn't want to seem awkward so I followed guynto his office .
As there are 2 james( the other being my good brother), it caused them problems. This poor man was flapping like a budgie apologetically . 20 mins later,I think the transaction was a success.
If I was left alone, it would've been far simpler .

    2) my m&s order was due in. The nice helpful, lady couldn't find it for 10 or so mins . They misspelled my surname .
Between all that, the buses were slooow. Infrequent also.

I'm back in the flat. Sat in the balcony writing this, but it's so hot I'm inside looking out :)

What a frustrating time on such a hot day.

.I'm currently indoors hiding from the sun - it's too fierce for me. :o. It's lovely and cool in my sitting room.

I have been sorting out my banking, paying bills, filling out some claim forms for insurance etc.

Noticed a recurring payment on my credit card statement ......hadn't a clue what it was, started delving and apparently I have been paying £15 a month to a company called "Completesave" for the last 18 months.

    For nothing.!!!

Apparently it date back to when I bought rail tickets from Trainline and they just signed me up........cheeky beggars. :rotfl:

I rang them. some American guy asked me what I wanted and I said "I would like my money back". He said "ok ma'am, with pleasure".

I ask you....I cant believe I didn't spot this payment until now.

Memo to self.......double check all bank and credit card statements.

Have booked two house viewings for next week.

Supposed to be Painting the town red tonight. Think I'll pass..... far too hot.

I'll sit in my garden with a glass of something instead. The climbing roses and the Philadelphia Mock Orange are in full bloom and they smell heavenly in the evening.

Thank your lucky stars you are not working in London in this heat AC. Can you not do online banking from the flat to pay James to save a trip into Poole?

Hope the viewings go well LL and glad you have a refund on its way. We got caught with a crafty auto renewal from Norton under my DHs subscription. We cancelled that immediately within the 60 day period so they will refund but yet another good reason to double check credit card and bank statements every month.

DH and I have spent the day building a play lodge, slide and climbing frame for our granddaughter. She loves it :) I think we now both deserve a drink and a sit down.

  • Yeah , all good stuff . :)
Technically I could move in on sat and start my new sleeping pattern.
    It'll be weird for a bit . I'll see

Give it a try - you might surprise yourself.

I might be getting used to new sleeping patterns - I have serious decisions to make.

Redundancy with payout (not huge, but enough for a few months); or

New job with continuous service, but not TUPE-transferred. New role and working nights. Got to find out if they'd pay for taxi home and other nuts & bolts, etc.

What happens if I don't like the hours / new role and redundancy payment is now something I passed on . . .!!!

If I have time to get my head out of the stress factory that is work, I might try and update my own diary.

At this rate I'll be working over the weekend :(

Feel sorry for anyone suffering from the heat, we're currently travelling back to Darlington on a Stagecoach/ Virgin East Coast train with non working aircon, slowly broiling in our own sweat..

I'll have to read up more on your diary. Been slack of late:o
I've got to the cynical stage now with employment . There's always a motive , apart from greed . The only time I got made redundant ( just missed the 4 year mark), Gordon brown halved what I could've been entitled to. The managing director has always been fantastic, sending sympathy card and company sent flowers when my mum passed away. My m d , doubled our payout meaning I got about £2,500
Instead of £1,300 or whatever it was. That kind of respect is now a rarity . The chief exec at my previous place always looked like he had the runs and would acknowledge you once in the blue moon.

I hope / trust you make the right decision . Good luck !

    Nasty. I sympathise.

Years ago I was on a coach tour of Egypt / Jordan in September.

We'd started the morning in Cairo and were heading towards Mt. Sinai via the Suez Canal.

At some point past the canal, the AC stopped working. After the driver / tour guide phoned the coach company, we were told the choices were: (a) wait for a replacement coach to be sent from Cairo - about six hours by the side of the road; or (b) continue on with no AC.

A group vote decided on the latter. We got there, but it wasn't pretty.

    Thanks enthusiastic :)
I'm not a fan of internet banking . It may be easier now we have apps.i may change my mind . I'm due to see nationwide in a couple of weeks so that may be the time to discuss.
The slide and climbing frame would suit me. Then again I'd probably break it all :)
