Lidl £5.13 and coop near where new house is £10.21 for milk, pickle, pop and got some bargains. Liking the coop already as it may be expensive for some things but does some good reductions, stuff I bought today had between 50-80% off which we are definately not used to in other shops near me, lucky to get 20p off a £3 item. I will have to resist dipping in all the time however as it's all too easy to get tempted by bargains then end up with a freezer full again! Still I've spent less than half of the budget which I reduced by 10%, half way through my month now, so happy so far!
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb

    Hello all....
Well......... I was doing fab ... spent £17.03 this week so far.
But then I went to Costco today... and spent £57.95    .

I really do need to be spanked with the big flip flop for that spending fiasco

So that brings my running total to £74.98... and I still have 3 weeks left and £45.02 to live on. But to be fair... my cupboard and freezer are quite full. I just need fresh veggies, milk and bread to buy. And after my trip to Costco.... the cleaning supplies and toilettries are quite well stocked also:o.

I am a little worried about next weekend as will be going out one or two nights with friends for some light refreshments;) . But will try to keep spending to a minimum.

So far this month I have spent £38 on fuel... dont know if thats good or bad yet.

    Hi everyone

I'm soooooo glad I joined this challenge. It has made me so much more motivated. I always thought I did pretty well with my budget, but it's so much easier having you guys motivating me!! To all you other lurkers, join in next time, it really does make a difference

Anyway, I have spent £33.72 so far this week, but that includes an impromtu takeaway (but for the first time ever, I cooked rice and heated up naan's and bhajii's while OH collected main courses - saved a fortune). Will only need a few veg and maybe some milk for the rest of the week, which leaves me £49.37 with one shop left until my month is over

    You keep going Wilf55

I am 35 years old have ran a household since being 19, have 2 kids age 12 & 14 and a husband. Up until about 7 weeks ago since I started reading these forums I had NEVER COOKED A MEAL FROM SCRATCH BEFORE!

My trolley contained ready meals, chicken/fish in breadcrumbs or anything convinient which I could just bung in the oven or nuke in the microwave I have even bought ready grated cheese and chopped carrots.

Since starting the grocery challenge and looking on old style board I have

    1 Saved a fortune
2 Had tasty meals that actually fill you up
    3 Lost a little weight
4 Had strange looks from OH & DSs but they have eaten food anyway.
5 Gained a sense of achievement in the knowledge that we are now eating low cost, healthier, tastier food that I have prepared myself

I have had some disasters like my mushroom soup where I failed to cook the roux properly so it tasted of uncooked flour and I still cant make a yorkshire pudding that doesnt have a ball of raw batter in the middle but I am trying and overall succeeding.

You keep going, its worth it:T .:T :T
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

I’m not doing very well this month:o
I usually shop at Asda but they’re ‘re-furbishing’ our local store and the last 2 times I’ve been I’ve not been able to find stuff because they’re constantly moving it round and there have been huge gaps on the because they seem to be having supply problems.
    Week 1 - I had to ‘top-up’ at Tesco so spent £50.01
Week 2 - I went to Morrison’s – BIG mistake!!!!! Hugely expensive and they didn’t have a lot of the things I had on my list, £54.58
Week 3 - I went to Tesco and did a little top-up at Sainsbury’s which wasn’t too bad but we buy our bread/cake flour from a mill and we’ve stocked up so consequently this week’s spend has been a whopping £60.93  Total so far £165.52 – not good even though I’ve got some stuff towards Christmas.
I’d better draw in my horns next week, technically I could still do it but I still have 2 weekends to the end of the month!:D
