I had to get some dog food today and also got my little poochie some denti sticks - got a large box which was reduced and will cut them in 2 so they will last for 2 months :p also needed some more treats for the little darling. So a bit more to add to my total ( see sig ) but hopefully still on course to stay within budget for the month. The sticking point is going to be when my DD comes home for a week and needs to replenish her tuck when she goes back to school after half term :o

Good luck with your challenges everybody :hello:

I,m going to have to buy a few slightly posh things tmrw as I have my DSIL,s daughter coming to stay with me for 2 nights. I,m a bit nervous as I have never met her and dont know what she eats or if she,s going to eat at all. I want to paint things in the house, I bought a new quilt and new face cloths and stuff, it,s rediculous, you,d think the queen was coming to stay, I,ll just have to dazzle her with my personality then she wont notice the flaws in the house. Either that or get her,and keep her plastered. Either way I can see my g/c going down the pan

Second week over in October for me and I seem to be doing OK have another 3 to go though should be alright if I only spend £55 in each remaining week. Managed to get a load of stuff on the whoops! in ASDA so freezer quite well stocked, got half a crispy duck & pancakes for £1.33 mmmmm.
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

Yes Moniker... I dread to think what the calorie count is on this.
But on the plus side... because it is very sweet you dont eat a massive amount... allegedly:rolleyes:
One of my friends thinks that it is too chocolatey... but I dont think that is possible ....... Is it ?

Maybe you're right! I think I will make some and freeze most of it so he can't eat it all in one hit (and neither will I!)

Had my Sainsbury's delivery which came to slightly less than the estimate. Also I got 4 bags of satsumas when I was only expecting 2 (a bogof). However, they don't seem to have charged me so I will take them into work for my friends to share. I phoned the store and they didn't want me to take them back when I explained that I couldn't get there before Saturday!

Started swimming at work on Weds evenings and as it is cheaper for me to use the work facilities I put the difference between the cost at the local leisure centre and the cost at work(£2-50) into my pms fund so my savings get fit at the same time as I do! Also it will be an incentive to go on those cold and dark evenings because I am 'paying' myself £2-50 each time I go - well I have to have something to make me exercise!

Feeling a bit anxious about making my money last to the end of the month, but going to have a real good try!

Off to work now (I 'm on the late shift today). Keep up the good work everyone.

God was already having a bad week now feel really down cr*p cr*p cr*p.
Imodium required here I think! :rotfl:

God only has a bad week when he listens to my prayers! :rotfl:

Nothing much to report except that I have added Cauliflower Cheese to my repetoir (bu**er can't spell it). We had it on Tuesday and it was delicious. Only trouble it gives both my DW and I the wind. Never mind there was a stiff breeze blowing at the time.

I was out to a posh dinner last night, the starters were OK - salmon on a bed of avocado puree. the main course which was chicken on mashed potato cake with "sparkling vegetables?" was rubbish. I could have done better that that ;). The chocolate something or other was so sickly sweet that I could only manage to eat half of it, and I love good chocolate. God knows what it cost but next year they can all come round to my house and really enjoy the food. Not sure how we'd fit 90 posh guests in but hey, where there's a will there's a way, and I'd only charge £50 a head :D.

OK mr t was back round again last night and this time it came to 45.39, it includes nappies and new toothbrushes for the kids and even more chickens, how much chicken is it ok to eat cos so far I'm really stretching out the chickens to cover 3 meals but think I might get a bit sick of chicken soon. I'll have a week off chicken at the end of the month when I live of stuff in cupboards i think, that'll give us a break from it.

Should only need to do a small shop at asda next week for bread, milk, fruit etc and dd will be on holiday, doesn't really affect the budget but will certainly mean I have more time and am realxed. Anyway hope its going well for everyone else, think i'm gonna be able to manage it this month but I'm worrying about next month aready!
  • The grocery challenge is having a strange effect on me. I keep buying stuff not on my shopping list, not something I normally do. :o

I have been super efficient this regarding the freezer though. I now have eggs, roast potatoes, and caramelized onions. (done in microwave) I have listed all contents of the freezer so I am able to plan meals at a glance. Ooh get me.:D

Like most, I just have milk bread and fresh veg left to buy.

    Have a good weekend !

Hi all, first post in OS. :D

Been inspired by you all, and decided to try and cut my frankly silly shopping spend - going to start next month though, as I have no idea how much I spend so I'm saving every single receipt this month. It's going to be an eye opener. I'm useless at making meals myself etc, so I really need to sort myself out and make the effort.

10 days in and already it's shocking - just me, the OH and the cat and I've spent over £100 already....

Good luck to everyone this month - I'll be joining you in November. :)

kick out the cat...hes eating far to much:eek:

Actually, that's a big point. He's a fussy little beggar, at the moment he'll only eat felix 'as good as it looks' - £4 for 12 packs, at 2 packs a day, it adds up.

I've tried buying him the cheapy stuff, but he doesn't eat it and I can't let him starve! (yeah, yeah, I'm a bloody pushover, I know.....)

think I'll search the board for cheaper pet food ideas. :)

Just been to Lidl to do weekly shop & all their fruit & veg is less than half price. Got loads of stuff for broth some fruit & salad stuff.

Whole bill for week came to £35.04 - not bad I think!
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.
