LOL can I get off the naughtly step now :rotfl: thanks for your kind words of support guys :D

I think it is more the amount spent more than anything - now I am really getting into this I realise that the amount I spent on 2 take aways could have paid for a nice chicken + veggies that would have lasted me a good few meals ( not the instant gratification of fish and chips.....but they were good ) In my favour though I did take back 2 impulse buy tops and scalf that I bought last weekend and a suit that I also impulse bought at Tescos last week hmmmmmmm think I need to do one hundred lines of 'do I want it or do I need it' to stop me spending - at least I now take things back and hold onto receipts. In the past I would have kept the stuff hanging in my wardrobe and never worn them :o

Hi everyone :) still doing ok, half way through my month now with half the budget left. I am hoping to have enough for a takeway the day we move, I should cook but I know we'll be shattered. We move a week tomorrow, still working on emptying the freezer but not that much left to make a meal with now, mainly bread etc, going to do a full stock take of it tomorrow

CATS - same as dogs, they are usually fussy because you let them, change the food to what you want to buy, they won't starve themselves completely and will eat it when they are hungry. I learned this the hard way with my dogs, now they cost me £15 a month to feed (inc treats) instead of over £70. I couldn't afford it any more, I cried when he didn't eat, tried forcing him, but eventually it worked. Be brave!
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb

    Hi all

Welcome to all the new GCers and wishing you all the best of luck.

Last weeks spend came to £78.21 which is well under budget, I'm made up with myself. Hopefully I can carry this on and reduce my budget next month back down to £80.00pw, or I might try £85.00pw don't want to get too ambitious..........

Having the slow cooker has definately aided my spending reduction.

OK mr t was back round again last night and this time it came to 45.39, it includes nappies and new toothbrushes for the kids and even more chickens, how much chicken is it ok to eat cos so far I'm really stretching out the chickens to cover 3 meals but think I might get a bit sick of chicken soon. I'll have a week off chicken at the end of the month when I live of stuff in cupboards i think, that'll give us a break from it.

I know what you mean about chicken. Have just had roast chicken for Sunday lunch again. The trouble is that it is so versatile - I have at least 6 differerent things I can do with left overs and three different ways to 'roast' it. I asked my DH if he minded and he said no, as I ring the changes with the meals so it doesn't matter to him if the meat is the same. (Mind you, he can't even remember what he had for breakfast so no point asking him about what he had for dinner last week!)

Have spent over my budget for this week as I went to Boots and got a few things - not just toiletries also first aid stuff that we had run out of. I also bought a bottle of white wine on Friday as DH had had a hell of a week at work and I thought he deserved a treat. The wine was Fairtrade Columbard/ Chenin Blanc from the Co-op and fantastic value at only £3-19 a bottle. But it does mean that I have only got £70 in the budget to last from 18th-31st October. Oh well, must try harder!

Off to tackle the ironing! Good luck with the rest of the week folks.
  • hi every body not had to good a wk. Would have been worse if I wasn't writting it all down. Spent £91.71 this week. Thats a total of £207.82 so fat this month leaving £192.18 for the rest of month.

However OH does get paid again till 24th and we got quite alot to pay out yet so food bill will have to go down!!! Got plenty in so will just have to be more creative.

    Good luck to you all

Hi Y'all. Another week gone and not sure if I'll meet my October target. Got to order the next fortnight's stuff from Mr T tomorrow and I've only got £63 left.
That still leaves milk to get for Mon & Tues and then more later when we run out of Tesco's. I'm now in charge of bread making as I'm pretty good with the bread maker. DW made a loaf last week which very heavy and quite small as it hadn't risen properly. She's a good cook who mixes stuff together without using scales or other measures. However as you all know when using a bread maker one has to be very precise and get things in the right order. Men are better at that sort of thing, don't you think? :p
