Very valid reason, because it's all about how economic we can be, nothing to do with consumer rights, customer service or anything :T

I'm sure you'd be happily content as well if you'd given a company your money and been blocked.

And their twitter accounts clearly state to tweet them if there are issues.. and this is a MSE forums.. you get the picture.

Why edit out your first post, other users may be faced with the same situation and cant apply the advise you've been given
  • The advice I've been given is that it's OK for a store to block customers on social media and that it's OK for him to force a warranty with a purchase.

Not the best of advice going round I'd say.. :/

Some folk much rather berate than help!

The "could have walked away at any time" solution offered by bris is just nonsense. That type of advice could be offered to anyone who has been scammed - but it wouldn't help at all! There is legislation in place to prevent such traders taking advantage of consumers like OP.

The OP has potentially been mis-sold the warranty. The price of the console may be misleading price indication - if the console and warranty wasn't clearly labelled as a bundle. The manager may even be committing a criminal offence by denying the OP's consumer's rights by failing to accept his responsibilities under the CRA.

OP if you're not getting any success mention all of the above to Game's HQ and say you intend informing - the FCA which regulates the mis-selling of financial products and trading standards for price and consumer rights.
  • Thank you for your post Cambie, I appreciate that. I was starting to doubt whether I was even entitled to my rights because of some of the comments here

I honestly don't think I've done anything unreasonable. As you have said the console and warranty had no labels or displays, of any sort, there was honestly nothing in the store stating the package he's claiming.

Thank you again Cambie, I'll be waiting for their complaints department to respond to me and see what they are saying :)
  • This post doesn't really offer any value to the forums, clearly, the majority of the comments here think I am in the wrong and the actions of the management are justified.

Thanks for all your wonderful help, I'm sure you all would also just brush it off if you were in the same situation :)
No, we would graciously accept and follow the advice generously offered by forum members.
  • I understand and appreciate that. But the advice given is to go to another store, whilst that is ideal, my consumer rights were breached with the store I bought it at, so surely I need to get it resolved with them. It'll benefit both others who purchase from there and the manager so he's aware of his malpractice.

Ring head office tell them you now realise you were missold the warranty.
    How did you pay?
Sorry, I paid via debit card. I'm just waiting for their response now as I've emailed them.

Not all Game store managers are like that, I agree with what Neil said, find another Game store thats easy to get too to sort it or speak to head office.
Late respone again - sorry. I understand that, I didn't intend to give the impression that they are all like that.

    OK, two issues here:

    1) "it's OK for a store to block customers on social media".
If you were given that advice then I can see nothing wrong with it.

    2) "it's OK for him to force a warranty with a purchase".
It certainly is OK for him to say "you must buy the 2 year extended warranty with it". Is that forcing? I would say not.

...my consumer rights were breached with the store I bought it at...
    No they weren't.
