Need some advice.
Tentacle the hamster has fallen over and cant move, he's still breathing and occasionally spasms :< But when you look into his eyes and there is nothing there and he's very very cold to touch. Even his paws are cold.
I guess that, since he is almost 3, it's time.
I've put him somewhere warm and cosy with lots of bedding, so hopefully he'll be comfortable. Just wondering what else I can do. If he's still like this tomorrow I'll take him to the vets. But does anyone else have any other ideas?

:grouphug: sorry he is ill. i think that you are doing the best for him by keeping him warm
when my old hamster was very ill i gave her cheese as it is high energy and baby food. she was ill because her teeth had fallen out (don't know where they went) and she could not eat her seeds. she lived another six months on baby food.it's nice to be important but more important to be nice!! :kisses3:0 -

Funny you say that. His friend died about 6 months ago and had no teeth for about a year.
He loved hummus and cream cheese.
However, Tentacle is now gurning :< So I've given him an extra tickle.0 -

Try trickling a little boiled water onto his mouth, hopefully he will get the urge to lick it at least that way he is less likely to dehydrate.
Hugs for you and you hammie.0 -

I had to have my fourth Ham put down a couple of months ago. He just faded over a few days to the point where he was cold and struggling to breath. I still miss him. I haven't been more than five days without a Ham in about seven years (as one's died, I've got another). With my wedding and honeymoon looming, I'm not getting another.
So yours in unwell. It's amazing how attached we get to them isn't it?0 -
I remember having my first hamster hami, he only lived about 12 months he had cancer and went blind, I was so upset when he died I was only about 14 I cried for days.
I hope your hamster is ok

Sadly Tentacle passed away about 2 hours after my first post.
We buried him today, next to his mate Ozric. He had a good life, packed with wheel and cornflakes, but he will be missed :<
Thanks all for your help/support.0
