Personally I think that’s a lot of money really and having been in a PP lounge they aren’t that great though it was the one at T5 at LHR which is poor. 

For a holiday that’s £72 for you and wife and two children. 

But if you do a lot of travelling on your own then it probably would be ok. Two trips a month is 50+ flights a year, so £8 per visit which is ok and on that basis I might be tempted. That’s assuming you don’t have airline status? With those number of flights you’d probably build up status quite quickly and with BA that would give you Silver status which is arguably much better. Depends who you fly with.

Aiming to out through as a business expense, so offset some tax perhaps as an added bonus, but assuming I do 2 trips a month on average, that would eat into the 10 trips over the next 5 to 6 months.

I suppose the key question is are the lounges reasonable (and worth effectively £20 odd a visit), with food and drinks etc. 
I was stuck in Aberdeen last week for 4 hours and must have spent close to £40 ish on food and drink. 
Seeminly, that children are not discounted, so as you've pointed out £72 for wife and 2 children is quite steep and difficult to justify.

I tend to fly with BA from LHR, or TUI for the odd holiday, hopefully between flights and trying to get an Amex Gold may make it worthwhile.
