Car reviews are infotainment at best. Generally they're extended adverts for the motor industry.

Unless they're extraordinarily well heeled, car news sources can't access most brand new cars unless the manufacturers allow them to, and they won't allow them to unless they are repaid with mostly favourable reviews.

Bog standard Fords (i.e the ones most people buy) are uninspiring enough, and Fords have been plagued with dicky build quality for long enough, that it should at least be mentioned as a concern in reviews, yet you'd think every new iteration of the Focus was the new incarnation of the Messiah.
  • UPDATE

1600 failed engines and 17 serious fires. See publicly open Facebook group called fordecoboostnightmare for full registration plate list.

The BBC (aka anti Trump TV) have not let go of the story, and are planning a follow up very soon. Especially after a leaked internal letter from the Ford director of customer relations Carlos, informing all Ford garages that they will not receive full payment unless they get the customers to sign away their rights to future compensation claims on the car when they accept the free replacement engines. This is a slap in the face of the BBC who have been publically embarrassed by being used and abused last Monday.

This is a worsening disgrace for the seller of the nations most popular cars.

I hope there is money left in the company when the group action goes to court, the share prices has dropped 45% over the past 5 yrs, and expected job cuts were in the press recently.

It seems Ford really are putting America first.
    Peace.

It seems Ecoboost drivers are motoring in ticking time-bombs made by a company that's on the make and on the make and on the take.

How long can Ford keep making a monkey of British motorists?
  • UPDATE

1741 Car reg plates listed and 19 fires.

Plenty more in the system waiting to be added to the list.

Latest Focus recall 1.3 million cars issued in America to start in Dec for fuel valve fault in 2.0 litre Ecoboosts that causes cars to stall with no warning. Owners advised to keep tank at least half full at all times.

Its a shame the UK DVSA doesnt consider loss of all power at speed without warning to be a safety issue, in any car. This historically in the UK only results in a urgent recall after somebody unfortunately becomes seriously hurt or worse from such a flaw.

The Ecoboost campaign group is becoming very busy now, and group legal action are progressing well taking everybody's details who wish to claim for losses.
    Peace.
  • The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

  • UPDATE..

1866 car reg plates and increasing by 100 a month. See the Facebook group for the open list.

BBC1 Monday 19 Nov in 2 UK regions, Inside Out will follow up on their 1 Oct scoop that forced the Ford UK CEO to make promises to save face.... that he has already publicly backtracked on.

Car owners are still being treated like cash cows when the root cause is Ford's design flaw. With hideous customer service and the £1000's involved this is a country wide and global scandal.

Group legal action is progressing with meetings occurring in the next week to review the 100's of applicants.

If you are affected, despite what the Ford dealer will tell you, you are 1 of many who have gone before you, and many who will follow.
    Peace.
  • I contacted Ford directly, and they offered to pay for the parts - ONLY the parts.
Has this happened to other people?
    Haven't replied yet.

Even after all the BBC coverage the Ford garages still try every trick in the book to avoid paying out.

Stay strong, get fully informed from all the info on the Facebook group page and they won't be able to argue with you.
