Or heater matrix for that matter.

I have replaced the odd coolant pipe but the last one I can remember doing was a 1970 Hillman Imp and the engine was fine afterwards despite having an alloy head

Heater matrix's do go to be fair. It's very rare and on new cars I suspect it's ever rarer. It's usually caused by old coolant, the wrong coolant or tap water in the coolant system corroding the matrix itself.

Coolant header tanks though? They're just glorified pieces of plastic.... and if the correct thermal plastic is used, they should never fail. Physics for the win. The part is clearly badly/cheaply designed by Ford. Whether they are willing to admit that, who knows?

Reg plate list now at 1240 failed engines.

BBC 1 TV 7:30pm this coming Monday CONFIRMED !!!

Plenty of 2015 plates appearing on the failed engine list... question... have Ford fixed the issues in newer cars? Who has proof?

    The TV listing:
Keeley Donovan meets some of the hundreds of Ford customers whose engines have failed without warning, in some cases bursting into flames.

Should be an interesting one. This is the kind of !!!! publicity Ford will have to respond too. They can't just keep ignoring it.

Some naysayers not posted for a while now :D
  • Yes I'd like to see what people make of it now...!

Group legal action is also ramping up, with 100's registering interest.

In fact there has been orchestrated cyber attack on the legal site's registration page! So the admin have to sift through all the bogus details... so it seems to have rattled the cage.
    Peace.

  • Reg plate list now at 1265 failed engines

At £6000 each, no courtesy car and often over 6 weeks without a car, that adds up to a huge loss for consumers.

Ford to refund 'engine fail' EcoBoost customers
  • All over the BBC.... TV Breakfast.... Radio 4, BBC1 tonight.

Andy Barratt UK Head finally promised to replace engines free of charge... and will consider refunding historical cases.

This is not far enough. The root cause is still not fixed, just a simple coolant level sensor added to the system would go a long way!

Losses go beyond engine parts... alternative transport for a start...

This is a good step and just a start.. but will not stop the group legal action which Ford are trying to stop.

Check at fordecoboostnightmare group Facebook page for comments and opinions on whether and how to accept Ford's goodwill offers without preventing future legal claims for losses.

    You must go further Ford.
    Peace.
