Money Moral Dilemma: Should I share my flight delay compensation?
Comments

Free holiday is compensation enough.0

You appear to have some hard nosed " friends. "
You paid for everything so you keep all the compensation.
Do they usually leave you to foot the bill when you go out socially?
The term Free loaders comes to mind.0 -
The Regs state
"This Regulation shall not apply to passengers travelling free of charge".
Interpret that how you will0 -
For the final time the tickets the OP bought were used all be it late. This is flight delay compensation NOT Who bought the tickets compensation. The OP can be challenged in court if they don't hand over the compensation. It's frankly getting boring lets shut this down.0

leylandsunaddict. Please don't encourage them it wasn't a free flight the tickets for the seats were paid for, it doesn't matter who payed for them. COMPENSATION DUE TO THE PASSENGERS NOT THE BUYER OF THE TICKETS, END OF THREAD. Hopefully0

If they paid nothing towards the flights, then they should get nothing from the compensation you received. And well done for getting it
:T0 -
I paid for flights for 5, but we were all delayed and through The Retail Ombudsman received compensation which I shared. The delay affected everyone so the compensation should be divided equally between everyone.0

This made me laugh!0

You clearly said you paid - so I would keep it if I were you.
Your friends were lucky to be given free flights in the first place, there's no reason why they should get more stuff for free now in my opinion :-)0 -
I had to read this to see if it was genuinely a real situation!
Reading some of the more focused responses that appear not to understand concepts such as 'feelings', it's clear that the law demands that the money be split, so it should be. To do otherwise may come back to bite you in the future.
However, assuming that you haven't left out any more critical information, I'm afraid that anyone who doesn't give you the money straight back is not actually a friend, they are a leech. In the long run, it's probably worth having found this out. I would advise spending significantly less time with them.
