  • Oh no! I kind of wanted it to be an ongoing thing....there's no time limit! Just make a cake to surprise someone, & post a pic! :D
:TOK, I'm confident about the whole thing, except uploading a photo on here. Have tried before without success. If no joy will put it on my own website and post a link. I'm leaning towards the chocolate cake at present. DH wants to make Sea Bass with noodles (I wanted to give them mackerel, as they don't get much Northern Hemisphere oily fish down there, but gave in gracefully)

Will try to get photo of cousin looking surprised at cake.

my favs are coconut and cherry and fruit cakes i love carrot cake just dont seem to be able to make it.
  • Mine are double chocolate muffins - so easy the kids make them, on their own (and they're heavenly still warm so that the chocolate chunks are all melting!), and Nigella's brownie recipe.
  • Well, I decided to give Daisyroot's chocolate cake a try today as I am a disaster area when it comes to cakes :o I don't know what it is, I just can't seem to get them right! so...... here is the cake just come out of the oven (I will ice it later)

    cake1.jpg

Now.. to me, it looks a bit sad! and it took an hour in the oven on 180 and not 20 mins as daisyroots takes  I kept checking with my knife and it was wobbly and I had to kept putting it back in.

Anyway, I'm not downhearted yet as it's risen (which is a first for me! :j) so I'm doing quite well!! I will ice it when it's cooled a bit (I am assuming I wait until it's cooled anyway?) and will take another pic.

Is my cake tin the wrong sort of tin? it's the only one I have (except for loaf tins but I wanted a round cake rather than a rectangular one).

    Hopeless me. :o
  • OMG I can't get it out of the tin  how do I do that?

Leave it a little longer diamonds, it might be too warm to get out yet. When you come to take it out try easing a knife gentley round the edge of the cake. Has your tin got a loose bottom or is it spring form at all?

Eh? :rotfl:it's a solid tin but has a silver openy closey thing on the side which I've always ignored (what is it?) I always wondered what that was for.

OK I will leave it for a bit longer cos I don't want it falling to bits :o
