Ah, now mr b.e. I saw this, but thought the cake had to be made on the day - ie - yesterday. I want it to be fresh for the Aussies, so planning to make it on Saturday - is that too late ?
Do you remember the old song: "If I knew you were coming, I'd have baked a cake" ? Well, I know they are coming...on Eurostar...so I'm baking a cake ! If this meets the criteria, I will photograph it and try to get it on here. All Art is the transfiguration of the commonplace

One of the best cakes I've made recently is a lemon drizzle made with condensed milk - I got from the guardian but I've lost the clipping if anyone can help??
It involved beating egg white separatley and folding the other ingredients if I remember.
It's absolutely gorgeous
I'd better go now as I should be on the diet thread!Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -
Mine would be an orange cake (dad's recipe) & pineapple fruit cake which is so moist.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0

Carrot Cake and Coffee and Walnut Cake. My Coffee and Walnut cake (recipe seems to have gone walkabout at the moment) is covered with American Frosting at the end with whole walnuts embedded into the frosting - very scrummy!0 -

Oh no! I kind of wanted it to be an ongoing thing....there's no time limit! Just make a cake to surprise someone, & post a pic!If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
