Since coming out of school, the progress my DDs have made is amazing and home edding certainly works for us.
I'm now preparing my educational philosophy, as we have been contacted by the LEA and will make a list of some of these resources in there.

Thanks for those SBH - they will be a useful tool for DD2.

One of my favourite forums for home education topics (besides here, obviously) is http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/
On a particularly MSE theme, they have a free curriculum thread at http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109114 :money:, but the rest of the forums also have lots of useful information.0 -

hello everyone! i was directed to this thread after asking for a HE dedicated area so i'm hoping we can revive this a wee bit as i'm seeing more and more people stating that they HE and we can certainly all use the help with resources
i'm going to go through my links and catagorise them then post them here soon (promise!) however right now while it's on my mind i thought i'd let you know that quite a few HE families are trying to start a 'trend' on twitter right now to raise awareness and support for HE.
if you post on twitter about anything remotely HE if you add the tag #WeLoveHomeEd (must include the hashmark) then that helps the 'movement' plus if you then click on that tag in your tweet you can see all the other tweets and there are already some useful urls posted so it could be good for everyone. http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23WeLoveHomeEd will show you the recent tweets with this tag. this has just started very recently but it's already doing well!
also if you want to add a twibbon to your avatar in support of HE you can click on this url http://twibbon.com/join/WeLoveHomeEd and get one0 -
PHEW! I've been busy sifting through hundreds of bookmarks, checking links and categorising them to provide all the HE families here with some more resources.
Some of these I may have found via MSE, some I've just stumbled upon myself and others via resource link sites. Regardless of how or where they were found I consider all of the links very useful so I'm thrilled to be sharing them with anyone interested in boosting childrens knowledge and love of learning.
To make these a little less daunting I'm going to post for each subject matter. All of the links have at least a little information to give you an idea of what they are about, some have a fair amount of information depending on how much I've used/liked them etc.
Keep in mind that I'm in Scotland so I've provided some Scottish resources because of that, I'm not discriminating against anywhere else! Also, most sites provided have some appeal to the 7-11 year old range because my daughter is nearly 8 however I have shared sites for younger kids, older kids and adults too!
I will probably add to each section as I the months move along, I'm an avid bookmark collector as I know I'll usually never be able to find these little gems again if I don't save them right then and there.
Anyway let me get started now with:
Art
For both primary and high school level students. Some of the games here are very educational and a my wee one had a lot of fun playing them http://www.alifetimeofcolor.com/main.taf?p=4
Art history, games etc. I highly recommend the A Pintura Art Detective Also contains links to many more art sites http://www.princetonol.com/groups/iad/lessons/middle/for-kids.htm
Inside Art – An Art History Game great game, interesting to children (and adults!) of varying ages http://www.eduweb.com/insideart/
Tate Kids – The Tate Modern presents this kid oriented website full of art activities, films and more all about art. My daughter loves this site and loves submitting her artwork to the gallery. They used to send a magnetic photo frame when you joined them, not sure if they still do or not but it was nice so maybe you’ll get lucky and get one too! This one is not to be missed, and the street art section will even appeal to older children http://kids.tate.org.uk/
