Serious Nagging From DWFs

I think there are several issues:
Whilst I agree that a 'Sub Board', similar to the 'Bankruptcy and Living with it' sub forum, is probably the best idea, I think we may run the risk of 'fragmenting' the whole DFW concept.
The 'Diaries' are an often invaluable source of information and advice to other DFW's, even though they may not always post there. I do not, religiously, read them every day, but when I've got a few minutes to spare, I do read them, and have taken a lot of advice/encouragement from them.
Equally, the 'diarists', by posting in the main forum, tend to look through all the other threads at the same time as they post, whereas, if they have their own forum, they may not be encouraged to look through, and post invaluable advice on, the other threads, in particular those of 'Newbie' DFW's, who could, possibly lose out on advice.
The 'Bankruptcy' sub-forum, on which I am a regular poster, tends to work well with DFW as Bankruptcy is a very specific subject, whereas 'diaries' tend to be all-encompassing and may be best left where they are so that they, also, attract the attention of everybody.
By the way 'wherediditallgo' has a very good 'diary thread' on the Bankruptcy board, which has been inspirational to many of us, and I think that it could 'lose' its identity by 'moving' it to what will, inevitably, become a more 'general, diary forum, or sub board.
Sorry to have gone on a bit - must be the weather. :rolleyes:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Can I vote for???? Not Sure to be honest:o (sorry- not great at deciding ANYTHING) BUT....I think this is such a special place- very welcoming and osmewhere you can vent, ask advice, have a laugh support each other, offer advice and just cope with things. I would hate it if we lost that "specialness"(I KNOW its not a real word:p But YOU know what I mean.) So if its all the same to you I will just park my (far too large)rear on this fence and let you sensible folks decide what is best.Blind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.

You are quite right, Annie, DFW is, indeed, a 'special' place - and I hope that Martin takes that into account when he makes his decision.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. Sub-board-with a little bit of freedom to post links on the main board to "special events" like challenges. So if (I had a diary and) was having Duchy's December Challenge a short post on DFW directing people to this super duper challenge would be acceptable for example.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I think it would be really sad to have a sub board - newbies will feel that they are even more cliquey.
The only way for us to be truly accessible is for us to be on the main board - a sub board will create a them and us and I worry that newbies will feel afraid to post on established diaries.
Please keep it as it is Martin, or at least promise to put it back if we don't like it?Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Ref what Rog2 say re wherediditallgo's diary, I would suggest that should stay where it is....... as was said, that diary is specific to bankruptcy, and may get lost with all the others...
Anniestar - I love the new word, I'm gonna vote for that to go in the OED
