That's a good loss pixtotts. Well done for getting back on it when you felt fed up.:T Happy Birthday when it comes and enjoy your break. Your (inevitable;)) gain will come off quickly. You've proved it this week!
I've done my meal plan and shop. Sadly no Rogan Josh in Aldi.:(I must try popping into Aldi midweek to see if they have any on quieter days. I fancy a curry and something quick after football tomorrow so I'm trying the Chicken Jalfrezi. It's 6 syns but I probably won't have all the sauce.
Today's EE meal plan:
B: HEB porage with HEA milk
L: omelette (ham, tomato, mushroom, courgette) with gherkins
D:smoked haddock, spring onion mash, baked red onion, mushrooms, asparagus
Syns: squirt of syrup and weekend wine:j (Hope anyone who's joining me enjoys theirs too:D)0 -
Well done all the losers
Today has been a bad self sabotaging day
Need to try and be good this weekend so I can start May with as I mean to go on.
Next challenge I want to set a 14lb target again, and hopefully I will reach it this time.Zebras rock0 -

Don't be so hard on yourself kathryna . It's been a really tough time for you and you've done really well under the circs. Hopefully you'll keep improving and be able to have a wider choice of foods. Good luck for an on plan weekend. :A0 -
Today I lost -1/2LB
Pleased with that. All the little bits add up.
I'm baking for the cricket teas just now and it's killing me not to lick to bowl. Going to bribe myself with wine and gogglebox to keep me away from the buttercream and gooey brownies.
Enjoy the bank holiday.0 -
I've been to my first class today so i'm now a member - yay. A lot to get my head around but I think I've been on track today : B oats so simple golden syrup 5 1/2 syns I think, rasps, lunch: salad and tuna , Tea: turkey casserole, with courgettes, onions, red peppers potatoes and a muller light toffee yogurt. Snack alpen bar.
Feeling a little peckish so going to have a banana. How does that look?
No doubt I will be along with lots of questions, but looking forward to getting to "know" you better soon ...I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0 -
:T midge Keep right away from the cake mix.

Well done for taking the plunge! Friday's a great day for weigh in. That's not bad for a first menu and I expect you're using up stuff you've got in. Not sure about the Oats so Simple depends on the pack size. There are loads of things you could have without syns for breakfast. Lunch and dinner look fine. If you buy Alpen Lights then you can have 2 for your HEB. I don't see any HEA (milk or cheese) and what about syns? Bananas are fine but as they're just free I think of them as a wasted Speed opportunity.
HTH, ask as many questions as you want.0 -
Well done, chocolateteddy, pixtotts, Midge and Tete.
Hello, AlwaysHappy.
I was out for lunch today, so I’ve been a bit naughty – again <sigh>. OH well, it’s a new day tomorrow.Sewing 88/COLOR]Woollies 19Card s 91Reading 37/400 -
Saver Upper - I suspect your milky coffee would have used a lot of your HEA but the coffee itself would have been Free as long as it wasn't flavoured and just an ordinary instant coffee or fresh coffee.
Is there a reason you only have 1 slice of bread? Is it from an 800g loaf rather than a 400g one?
You also need to use your syns. They are part of the plan and unless your saving them up to use at the weekend, for example, then your not having enough.
Hi joedenise.Thank you for the feedback-in particular I have been thinking about the syns issue myself.
The bread is from an 800g loaf,(medium sliced).I believe that means only one slice for a HEB,however as a bread-lover,I am very happy to be corrected.Please.
I did do a double-take when I was looking at my food directory a couple of days ago.Looking at the Kingsmill listings,if you look at "Tasty wholemeal bread,800g",a medium slice is 4.5 syns,a thick slice is 5 syns.
From an 400g loaf, there is simply one listing,"1 slice 3 syns".
I take that to mean that a 400g loaf is more evenly sliced, and 800g loaves have 2 different thickness slices. Is that right?I wonder why the difference in thickness within a loaf, and between the loaves?
I have been thinking about my syns.I have been becoming aware of how few syns I am using at the moment.Partly I think it is because I am eating so much more better,I have stopped feeling hungry between meals/bingeing on rubbish after the kids go to bed/eating for the sake of eating, etc.
Some of it might also be not trusting myself-once you start, you just can't stop, etc. At the moment I am quite enjoying the little chocolate rice cakes I sometimes have in the evening ,but they are only 3.5 syns a pkt.But at tthe moment I wouldn't trust myself to buy, say,a packet of Maltesers,or a 4-finger kit-kat:sensible size pieces of chocolate, but I worry it would re-ignite my sweet-tooth,then I am on a very slippery slope .I have even hidden 2 full and proper easter eggs( and associated chocolate bars) from myself because I don't trust myself to just use 15 syns a day on them.
However.......for a couple of days I have become aware of how few syns I am using, and have been reading on various sites that it is recommended you use them, firstly because syns are a legitimate part of the SW plan(as you say),and also because if you don't use them, then if your weight plateaus, you have nothing to cut back if you are already using very few syns. That really resonated with me,so now I am thinking about how to use my syns without re-awakening my very sweet tooth.I started tonight with naaan bread, which seems to have about 15-16 syns.
I think I will start finding something to use my syns for.Hopefully introducing the recommended 5-15 after nearly 3 weeks of using about half of that, won't trick my body into thinkingI am over-doing the syns.

Friday's menu:
Breakfast:2 slices of wholemeal toast (co-incidence,eaten before reading joedenise's post upthread.(4.5 syns plus 1 HEB),with marg (1 syn) and Marmite, followed by 2 apples
Lunch(very late ,about 5pm:eek:): bacon,eggs,baby plum tomtaoes,baked beans
Tea: tangine:butternut sqush,onion,red peppers,tinned tomatoes,garlic,chick peas,served with rice and naan bread,which didn't have a brand,but most seem to be about 15-16 syns
Milk used in cups of tea(HEA),also 2 teaspoons of sugar (2 syns) in a couple of coffees.SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76

Morning all
I couldn't post yesterday despite trying several times - I kept getting a Norton message saying 'malicious website' and lost several posts - I think it's something to do with our campsite wifi, plenty of you were posting so it wasn't an MSE problem *shrugs*. Hoping I'll be able to post this!
I've ended this challenge with another STS which is pretty disappointing, having achieved less than half of my target. Can you put me down for 9lbs again for the next challenge please Shala.
Saverupper - you're right about the small loaves, they only do medium sliced so they're quite uniform. With 800g loaves some people count 2 slices as the syns minus 6 for your HEB, so for example the Kingsmill you have would be 9 syns for 2 medium slices, minus 6 = 3 syns. I would write this is my food diary as HEB+3. Hovis wholemeal (medium sliced) is 4 syns per slice which would only be HEB+2. Hope that makes sense?
I'm just going to make this a short(ish) post just in case it doesn't work, so well done to all the losers and hope everyone has a good holiday weekend.
