As far as I can remember avocados are 7 syns for half:eek: which is why I've not had one since starting SW in 2010! Although having said that I've had slices of it in salads when I've been on holiday sometimes but I tend not to count syns when I'm on holiday (just take the hit when I come home:rotfl:) and then get straight back on plan until the weight has come back off - has taken much longer than usual this time as it was an all inclusive to Jamaica and they are pretty heavy on the rum in the cocktails!!!

Today hasn't gone to plan as DD2 asked us to go and look at a caravan with her at lunchtime and only just got home so no lunch at all so same very hungry now but not having anything as I'll do dinner shortly so definitely a bit low on Speed today but it can't be helped.

Missli,I went back to SW group last week for the first time in 18 months.I sat in on the new members talk ,and listened to the lovely leader say all fruit and veg are free.(And avocado is not listed at all in the fruits in the new members food optimising booklet,so you can't know any different.).I had to pipe up and say "that is except for avocado",to which she said "yes, that's right.Avocado is not free",then we got talking about how many syns it did contain, health benefits etc.

Olives are also a vegetable and not Free - they're 1 syn for 4 so not too bad, I often add them to salads.

Not quite as bad as that!

Olives in brine (8 olives) 1½
Olives whole, marinated (8 olives) 2½
    Olives stuffed (8 olives) 3

Have to say that's changed since last year! They were 1 syn for 8 then. One of the ladies in my group was "fancying" them when her daughter was pregnant! She absolutely hated them before that and since her grandson was born! It just seems so funny:rotfl.

Personally I can't stand them but DH loves them and often buys them when we got to France but rarely here unless we can find a stall at a farmers market. Just doesn't like jarred ones.

3 syns each for original and 2 for light.

I like avocado and olives but can easily go without as there are other things I'd rather use syns for (guess what? ;)). Like denise I've had occasional avocado in meals out and the same with olives but I never buy them at home.

saver upper I understand how you feel about not trusting yourself to start on chocolate. I did the same with cheese and banned it while I was getting to target. What I did was have an occasional cheese board after a meal out. It helped not to have it in the house.

The good thing about anchovies is that you don't need many for lots of flavour. According to syns online Co-op in olive oil are just half a syn for 100g drained and Sainsbury's with a garlic and citrus dressing are just a half for a 200g pack.
