morning all. not sure I reported my +2lb last week :(

glorious weather here yesterday and Saturday unfortunately it looks like I've been on the receiving end of littlie's latest cold and for the first time in about three years hayfever...simultaneously and my hayfever is horrendous - sore throat, streaming eyes, congestion and today sore ear from my sore throat :/

might make it easier to lose weight this week as I don't want to eat muvh food when I can't enjoy it!

plan for today at the moment:
once my hayfever tablet kicks in a bit; cup of tea (milk from hea) and melon with strawberries and quark for breakfast.
lunch: pasta with spinach, tomatoes, red cabbage and some pulled pork as I made a big pot yesterday (bbq beans, onion, green pepper, mushrooms and halved cherry toms with a pork loin joint all fat removed)
tea: I'm thinking meatballs and pasta with garlic bread. I think the meatballs are 8.5 syn for half the pack (10) and I eat 3/4 which is just under 1/4 pack so i'll call 4 for that, sauce is aldi Bolognese not sure on syns but an average jar is 12-15 so going for 4 for my serving and then a slice f garlic bread is about 6/7 a slice so that's my syns for the day.

leaves my heb for snacking - 2 alpen lights
going to try and drink as much as possible and keep inside sadly today I think

This weekend seems to have just kickstarted the hayfever season doesn't it Lush :(

Yesterday I was bad and had lots of syns :( although my total syns for the week is still okay. Back on plan today. Weigh in tomorrow evening and want to lose as much of last weeks gain as possible.

    Today's plan:
Breakfast - overnight oats and fruit (I'm allowed it twice a week)
Lunch - cheese salad (Nice bit of stilton to get the maximum flavour out of my allowed cheese)
Dinner - Chilli beef noodle stir fry
Snacks - water melon and strawberries

    HA - milk and cheese
    HB - oats
Syns - little bit in salad dressing and stir fry sauce

    Morning all

Reporting in with a loss of 1lb - I'm now exactly x stone and the scales tantalised me for a second by showing the next number down. That's made me determined to go for it this week - if I lose 2lbs I'll have reached 4 stone total loss.

Kathryn - strictly speaking Sw doesn't allow banking of syns but there are several people here that do it (me included) and it doesn't have any negative effect on weight loss. In fact it may tie in with the Whoosh effect theory that I linked to earlier in the thread.

Lush - the cold/hay fever combination sounds miserable, hope you feel better very soon.

Sorry you didn't get the sunshine Beanie - I thought the forecast was good for everywhere except the extreme north of Scotland but it obviously wasn't great for your area.

Good luck to everyone else weighing in today, have a good week everyone.

    Catch you later,

    LL :)

Well I managed a syn free day yesterday so pulled back 15 syns from my overindulgence on Saturday! Now need to tot up how many I've had so far since WI in Thursday and work out how many syns I've got available for today, tomorrow and Wednesday but thinking it's probably around 10-12 which isn't too bad.

    Today's plan:

B - Toasted BLT; will use a few syns for low fat spread
L - HM veggie burger; salad - lettuce; cucumber; tomato; pepper; spring onion; beetroot; pickled onions; onion chutney (DH doesn't like veggie burgers so I'll make 4 and freeze 3 - he'll have the odd butcher's one I found in the freezer instead!)
D - LO roast chicken; SW chips; beans; no Speed but think with what I'm having earlier in the day plus some fruit I'll have my 1/3!

    HEA - milk
    HEB - not sure but quite probably some Ryvita; quark; ham & cucumber;
Syns - low fat spread 3; possibly a couple of Biscoff 3

    Well done on the loss.

I know the banking of syns isn't really allowed. I don't really do it, but I tend to try to keep closer to the 5 syns a day than the 15, so that I don't feel as bad when I go above the 15.

The whoosh effect article was interesting. it definitely seems to explain some of my experiences losing weight in the past. Hopefully I can use it to encourage me to keep going when I don't do as well as I think I should.

This has changed now. See below posted in February on the website:

Hi I was just wondering if you can carry syn's over? Many thanks lyndsay

Hi Lyndsay, Yes, you can! If you really want to – and you feel really confident that by depriving yourself of Syns for some or most of the week, you’ll be able to enjoy your night out knowing that you’ve stayed within your week’s Syns – go ahead. If missing out all week feels difficult and especially if you’re worried about ‘blowing it’ part way through, the alternative is to stay flexible with your Syns. Your weight loss may be a tiny bit slower, although in the long term you could actually achieve a greater weight loss because you avoid those feelings of deprivation. What’s more, with flexible Syns (search in useful features) you could eat healthily and happily for the rest of your life and keep your weight off for good! SW x

Hope you don't mind LL but I've just used your reply to say the same!

Kathryn - are you able to have balsamic vinegar? If you are it makes a great dressing for salad rather than having to syn something. I always use it.

Yes all vinegars are allowed. Balsamic is something I've not had much of. Do you use it on its own, or mix it with other ingredients for your dressing?

I have quite a thick balsamic which I just use straight from the bottle but I would have thought it would be fine with any balsamic. I think it would defeat the object to mix with anything else as it would probably involve syns, although I suppose you could mix in a few chopped herbs to make it even tastier.

second cup of the tea (more milk from hea - I use more in tea than I think so nearly halfway through my allowance already) on its way down and feeling slightly more positive.

Having a few days with glasses instead of contact lenses to help keep my eyes calmer - need to order more lenses anyway and not doing that until pay day so alls well :)

luckily over the weekend with the glorious weather I finally found the bottom of the laundry basket - first time in close to a year! got a load in now which is clothes from yesterday and a sheet of littlies they are nearly ready to hang out then two tshirts in the basket which need to go in at 30 so will have to wait for a few more bits. got loads of housework done too. all the downstairs cleaned (except theres always dishes to do!) and the stairs and upstairs bathroom just the dusting and vacuuming upstairs to do and the house is all caught up! I feel so much more on top of things which is a relief.

nice weather again today but a breeze so we will see how we get on - fuel to put in the car (I had better claim last weeks work expenses tomorrow!) littlie to gymnastics (week off that next week then she starts pre school (!) so should change sessions hopefully. weekend with the in laws at the caravan for Easter so going to message mil and see what she thinks we should do about food. plenty of body magic to negate any extra syns though!

I love a bit of balsamic too, it was always my salad dressing of choice even before SW.

Hello all, had a very busy weekend here which translates as lots of eating out/eating conveniently and not much thought to SW, but on the plus side I've got rid of (down my gullet) the naughty stuff from the freezer so now everything in there is free or low-syn.

AND yesterday I did a five mile race in my new orthotic insoles and scaffolding-esque knee support and today I feel great, hardly any pain in my dodgy leg at all, whereas a couple of weeks ago I could barely put any weight on it at all after a run. Fingers crossed that's the problem solved and I can get out running a bit more now!

I have no fresh food in at all so I need to do a meal plan and some shopping today, and also need to do a lot of housework :o

I'm thinking of making a crustless quiche I remember my friend making us for lunch years ago when she was doing the red/green version of SW - it was tuna and peas with cottage cheese I think (sounds horrible but it was lovely!) - can't find it on the SW site so am going to freestyle it a bit and maybe add in some sweetcorn. I realise here's no speed so will eat with pickles :D Will pop back later with a proper menu once I've mad a plan.

EDIT - cross posted with Lush - so jealous of your being on top of the housework! Hopefully I'll be able to say the same by the end of the day!
