Actually - it would be a good idea to merge the two threads together to keep all the ideas in one place and so that bit easier for everyone to find.
I'll do it shortly, but first I need a :coffee:Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I can't remember the exact name of this stuff, but I got a free sample a couple of years back, you put it in your iron instead of water, it is intended to make your clothes smell nice and make them easier to iron.
Just wondering if there is an OS alternative?
Cheers y'all.GC - March 2024 -0 -
It's called Vaporesse I think. Not sure about alternatives to be honest - maybe just adding essential oil to the water before you put it in the iron.
Sure someone more useful will be along in a minute!!I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0 -
Hiya,
We have an older thread on ironing water which I'm sure you'll find helpful and so I've merged your question with it. Since posts are listed in date order you'll need to read from the beginning to catch up with us allHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Thanks Squeaky!
Can't use fabric conditioner ... cos I use vinegar, LOL!
I'd be a bit nervous about using essential oils due to leaving grease marks on clothes .. hmmmm ....
Anyone any other ideas?GC - March 2024 -0 -
I usually buy sainsburys active naturals irnoning water, which is fairly cheap anyway but I would love to find a way to make it myself.
Also we get through febreeze at an alarming rate, and I'd prefer to use something more natural, I sometimes have dried orange peel on the radiators, but this doesn't work in summer obviously!
Any tips please?Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -
I just put a couple of drops of EO in water and put in spray bottle & spritz the clothes to iron.
Don't know what febreeze is, but I always leave our windows open for fresh air & often have fresh flowers on the dining room table. I also dab a couple of drops of Lavender oil on cotton wool & put under the plastic bag in the bin. Makes it smell nice everytime you open the bin.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Buy a plastic dehumidifier from one of those cheapy shops all towns have with the plastic boxes outside. The water you get in it can be used as ironing water. I just chuck mine though as I don't own an iron :eek:2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Hi Starlite, I have seen a previous thread where a person used left over bits of perfume spritzed into water, I tried it and it was lovely and great way to use up perfume your fed up of!
