Ironing Water

I use a similar recipe to this one:

except that I don't bother sterilising the bottle and use white vinegar instead of vodka - it seems to work just as well at dispersing the oil and is too dilute to leave a smell.0 -
I think I will get some lavender oil. If I use vinegar wouldn't the smell be vinegary too?TopCashback £1792.63My Little World0

The white spirit vinegar is less smelly than the malt, and you are using so little that it really doesn't smell especially one the oil is in.
If you are really worried then by all means use the vodka instead - I just can't bring myself to do it!0 -
I think I would end up being half cut before the ironing was done lololol
Do you sterlise the bottles and keep yours in the fridge?
I will have a go at doing this. Thanks SeakayTopCashback £1792.63My Little World0 -
I like to use scented ironing water and want to make my own to save money. I have found some "recipies", but am a little concerned about using them in my steam generator iron in case they do any damage.
Does anyone have any experience of doing this or can anyone advise me? I have the Vodka to hand for making it or to resort to if it's a "No, don't do it!"
Many thanksI must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -
mine steam gen iron has a wee filter in it and it did say it was advised to use deionised (sp?) water but i never bothered, but i read on here a few weeks back someone saying they use the water from there condenser dryer so i'll be doing that from now on

It depends where you live, if in a soft water area [kettle does not fur up] you can just use tap water [excluding Highlands & Islands with peaty lumps in it]
If in hard water area [furry kettles, rings in tea cups] then you could use any distilled water such as that from dryer, fridge defrost tray. The distillation will have left the chalk behindEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
