You can buy bottles of deionised/demineralised water and then add a few drops of essential oils if you like scented. Don't use drinking water though the iron will fur up.
Absolutely. The water is available from big supermarket's Auto/DIY section. Obviously, the boiled and cooled water is probably cheaper. The essential oil from health food shops, etc.
A tip: Don't get lavender. I know it smells nice, but it's so relaxing, I never finish the ironing. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I will have to try another one next time.
You can also use it in a spray bottle to spray your ironing and as a room freshener. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
Hiya
I live in a really hard water area too. I use water that has been filtered in a filter jug and add a couple of drops of essential oil. I like lavender for my bedlinen because it's lovely and relaxing when you get in for the night.
I am one of those strange people who likes ironing :rotfl:0 -

Hi, I have lovely soft scottish water so don`t have the same problems as you, but can I ask - do essential `oils` not leave greasy spots on your ironing ?? Used to use smelly sheets in the tumble dryer MANY moons ago but the greasy marks left on dark clothes used to drive me nuts.:mad:Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

I've never seen any. Admittedly the first time I did it was on my very old second-hand duvet set because I had the same worry but I've been doing it a good year now, even on my best linen with no problem. I got the idea from a pillow spray a friend bought me from V!rgin Vie. I would probably check on a bit that couldn't be seen just to be safe.0 -

I like that comfort stuff, lovely smell when ironing. But can't use it as the kids seem to be allergic to it. Son in particular ends up with skin that looks raised and badly sunburnt after wearing clothes/sleeping on sheets with it on.

Ok, I'll admit it, I looked at the title of this thread & thought, Ironing water? How on earth do you iron water?!!!

Does any one know how to make your own old style Vapouresse type stuff for ironing.
I have seen post where people put essential oils in but wondered if there was anything else that I might be able to use.TopCashback £1792.63My Little World0 -

that's the only thing that I could come across - but maybe somebody else who's good at finding things will be along soon.
