Ebico / SSE partnership has ended!

The letter shown above says "a supplier is not allowed to switch you automatically" but we were already with Ebico not SSE. I chose Ebico years ago due to whatever rate they offered at the time, not SSE who had/have their own rates . SEE were only administering the account on behalf of Ebico eg billing and meter readings etc.
In essence , that letter is saying we are not allowed to switch you but we match our rates to Ebico's arrangement with RHE, rename our tarrif and by default, we will switch you. Ie you will become a SSE customer no longer a Ebico customer .
Exactly what they are accusing Ebico of doing.
As if it wasnt already confusing.
Someone, eg Martin et al needs to help us get some clarity here.
No, you were with SSE and still are with SSE if you have not agreed to be switched to RHE. It's easier if you regard Ebico as an agent for SSE and the Equi tariffs as the "SSE Ebico Tariff". In OFGEM language Ebico is a "white label energy provider". Ebico's energy supplier was SSE and is now RHE.0 -
No, the rates are not matched. There will be a very big difference with electricity between SSE's Zero tariff and Ebico Zero tariff - it will be a 20-25% difference from 28th April.
It is important that all Ebico customers understand that staying put with SSE will mean a big electricity price rise.
I rang SSE on receipt of the letter today and was told the rates would stay the same. I then specifically asked 'until when?' and was told 'until December this year'
I am not saying you are wrong, but you can't be both correct!
I will join the Ebico/RHE setup, but my Ebico account is only for an Annex.0 -
What really dissapoints me is that apart from the deal, I moved to Ebico because I felt there was an ethical dimension to their dealings and having had terrible problems with Npower who were terrible and I had to take them to court.
Ethical dealings might have been a presumption on my part but they have in my view dealt badly with this issue and lost trust and I have written to SSE on the several accounts we have asking them just to make sure that we are not moved.0 -
SSE has still not released any information on price rises, no official announcement on their website and still no press release. In fact the letter I received today says that there will be no change to the Equi tariffs apart from the name . Whether that means the tariff prices will stay the same remains to be seen. In fact at this time in the light of the letter received today it's pretty safe to regard the previous letter about price rise to come from Ebico,
At this time it appears that the help lines for both Ebico and SSE are busier than usual so that might indicate confusion and I'm not really surprised.
I and others have also received a letter from SSE giving details of the EquiPower tariff increase. See page 9 for the discussion.
With so much contradiction information coming from Ebico and SSE it really no surprise that we are all confused.
I wonder if there are grounds for complaining to the industry regulator about this mess.0 -

Ebico does not supply any energy - it has no supply licence to legitimately do so.
Ebico is a white label supplier. i.e. it piggy-backs off another licenced supplier.
Ebico used to use SSE as it's supply partner, but as the title of this thread states, that partnership has ended.
Ebico now operates in partnership with RHE.
If you are supplied on the Equipower or Equigas tariff then you are supplied by SSE.
If you still wish to be supplied underan Ebico White Label tariff, you will need to switch. All new applications to Ebico will be supplied by RHE.
What makes you think SSE will price match the new Ebico/RHE tariffs? They were already more expensive (or put another way, the new Ebico RHE tariffs were cheaper) and you should have received notification from SSE already that the price is increasing from 28 April 2017. From my notifications, it appears the increase is in the range of 15-20% (and that's on top of the fact it was already about 5% more expensive than the new Ebico/RHE tariff)
Hope that helps clarify matters for you0 -

Presumably by that, SSE mean the increased rates already notified effective 28-Apr-2017 will not be changing again until December?

To clarify, the rate increase only effects the price of electricity.0 -
The Equipower and Equigas tariffs, supplied by SSE, are being renamed SSE Zero Electric and SSE Zero Gas. The electricity is also increasing in price by 15-20% depending on region on 28th April.
However, if you have chosen to switch suppliers to Ebico Zero, this doesn't apply and you will be switched to being supplied by Robin Hood Energy. "Your tariff is not closing" does not mean your switch isn't being processed.
I have yet to receive any notification that my Equipower and Equigas accounts will be closing. I have submitted my meter reads on my new Ebico Zero accounts today. Perhaps the only way I will know is when a final bill is produced.
If you have already been asked for meter readings for your Ebico Zero tariff, you have already been switched, or will be very, very soon.
(You can find the start date in 'My Account' on the ebico website, under tariff details)
You cannot be on both Equipower/Equigas at the same time as Ebico Zero as that would mean you are being charged twice by two different energy suppliers for exactly the same energy. That cannot happen.0 -
Neither company has given a full explanation, but it seems SSE were no longer up for the ethical tarriff so Ebico found another partner who is, and both state the other has misrepresented the position on supplier choice in letters sent out. Why believe one over the other?
So you dismiss that Ebico negotiated with RHE and was in breach of their contract with SSE.0 -
Whether or not Ebico had an exclusive deal with SSE or not is a moot point. SSE are acting as if they did, Ebico directors clearly thought they didn't.
Whilst I agree this is an organisational mess from both sides I'm going with the money and switching both gas and Electric to RHE.
